Hi! I'm Melanie Montoya - a maternity and newborn photographer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I absolutely love photographing newborns. With three children of my own I know how precious the first moments in a child's life can be. Time passes so quickly and remembering those times can be difficult. I know exactly how new moms feel when they walk into my studio for their session.
I hear this all the time. In fact, I feel the same way. The first moments of life are extraordinarily precious. Time passes so quickly and remembering the first weeks of baby's life is seemingly impossible. That's why I absolutely love photographing newborn babies. I specialize in creating one-of-a-kind, unique, beautiful photographs of your baby's first weeks of life that will tell an amazing story to future generations.
The bond between mother and baby is truly amazing. Photographs of the final days of your pregnancy represent so much more than 'being pregnant' or 'giving birth.' Over the past 8 and a half months, anticipation, excitement, and fear have consumed your mind while exhaustion has consumed your body. You have been creating a miracle and establishing the most sacred bond life has to offer.
Albuquerque, New Mexico has an amazing landscape for portrait photography. I love finding those hidden gems all over the city to take one-of-a-kind, beautiful portraits of children, families, and couples. It has been cake smash season her at the studio and so many newborn clients have returned as Smash and Splash clients.
I love taking family photos. It's fun to see the moms, the dads, and the kids tighten up their bodies as they stand in a really uncomfortable pose with the expectation of saying, "cheese!" I get it. I've had those types of sessions, too. I believe that family photography should be a much more fun, natural experience.

I can not recommend Melanie enough! She is truly talented! We did newborn photos with her and she handled my newborn with such care. I felt my baby was completely safe with all of the poses and how she wrapped him. She was also kind and so patient with my other children (20 month and 4 year old old and they got pretty crazy at times!) She also just goes the extra mile with the details to make you feel welcomed and special! She had welcome signs with our sons name on it and small things like that. When we went to go view our photos and pick them out, she had the cutest video presentation put together

Melanie far exceeded our expectations. We could not have hoped for better images from our maternity shoot. Melanie accommodated our every request and managed to capture incredible images even in the cold windy weather. She is clearly very talented. We were so pleased with outcome of our maternity shoot that we immediately booked a newborn shoot. Once again we were delighted to see the moments Melanie captured, this time of our sweet little. The photos were revealed to us in a sweet slideshow, complete with popcorn. It was so difficult to pick our favorites because we loved them all. We will treasure

Melanie is very creative and professional! Her small touches of personalization made us feel extremely welcomed! She has her studio space and a waiting area space. Her studio is quaint, very clean and easily manipulated to achieve varying photography sets. Her waiting area makes you feel right at home with snacks, WiFi access and your own TV! Very decent prices and amazing quality and quantity of photos! We did our new born pictures for our son with her and more than likely we'll be back when he turns one! Highly recommend!

We contacted Melanie to do my daughters newborn pictures and I am so SO thankful we did! From start to finish Melanie put so much time and effort into everything. I think what I loved most is when we did the final reveal she made it so special, I was laughing and crying (happy tears of course) of the images I was looking at, not only of my new sweet daughter but my family. I will forever cherish these photos and I look forward to hopefully creating more memories with this talented woman!

Melanie was a great photographer she took pictures of my sons soccer team as well as his individual pictures and I have never been more satisfied with a photographer. Not only is she great with kids but extremely professional. I have seen her pictures she has done for her other clients and they were awesome! She really has a way of capturing the beauty of the person not only kids photos but families. I would highly recommend Melanie for any photos you need. You can tell by the time she takes with each client that she has pride in what she does and she wants to portray that in every photo she takes

Melanie has heart and talent. I know now days everyone seems to pick up a camera and call themselves a photographer, and with so many people doing this its hard to find the right person. But Melanie is different, she has TRUE talent, she is caring, and sweet, professional and amazing. You can see in her pictures she truly cares about each individual session. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our newborn session with Melanie Maxine! The pictures turned out more beautiful and perfect than I could have ever imagined, but it was also the time and care that Melanie took when working with us that made the experience so memorable. She was so gentle with our sweet baby boy, making sure that he was warm and safe in any pose she used. Melanie used a sound app to soothe him and I’m convinced that it was all of these techniques and special attention to detail that resulted in the gorgeous pictures that now hang in our home. Recently I took my kids to do a mini session with Melanie and I was beyond pleased, I would recommend to anyone! Melanie was very professional and made taking pictures with a 1 yr old and 7 yr old extremely easy. We did all the paperwork upfront so when we showed up her time was spend on the photography. Melanie had the gallery ready in just a day or therefore we were able to view and print very quickly.All the pictures were great which made it hard to pick our favorites.

Melanie did a mini shoot of my two daughters for the holidays. I am so extremely happy with the photographs. She was patient and sweet with my girls. The backgrounds were beautiful. My girls felt comfortable and she took photos that captured their natural smiles. I will definitely be returning for more photographs in the near future!
