We proudly serve Accomack and Northhampton counties in Virginia, and even have some clients traveling from Somerset county in Maryland. Atlantic Animal Hospital is a small animal veterinary hospital serving communities on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Provide a safe and positive working environment where all staff members can develop to their full potential. Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, Atlantic Animal Hospital stresses the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Courteney, our receptionist/vet assistant, is a native of the Eastern shore of Virginia and has been with Atlantic Animal Hospital since 2011. Courteney has a very bubbly personality. She is always bouncing around and bettering the world around her. Courteney has a deep love of Hello Kitty and anything with owls.
Our hours are posted below. Any changes to our hours will be posted on the front page of our website, on our facebook page, and on the local radio station, WESR (103.3FM). Also please remember we are closed every Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00pm for our weekly staff meeting! We offer 24 hour emergency service for our clients by calling 757-302-0345, even after hours.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at Atlantic Animal Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics.

I just can’t say enough about the love and compassion shown to our family as we had to suddenly say goodbye to our Cheebie. Cheebie was my daughters first cat and they had such a special bond during their 13 1/2 years together. Dr. Leatherbury was amazing that evening but it didn’t stop there. Today, we received a sympathy card with Cheebie’s paw prints from Dr Leatherbury and her staff. How thoughtful and so appreciated by all of us.

I used to work at a Vets office and I was horrified when my boss/vet retired leaving me looking for the next best thing for my pets. And while no one can replace Dr. Nickel as he was more than amazing to me and… my pets, I do believe I found the next best thing for my pets at Atlantic Animal Hospital! Willow went to the vet today to get her second set of shots. She did awesome , she licked peanut butter while the Doctor did his thing. 😂 She was leery upon arrival but did just fine after greeting all the nurses. They loved her. 😊 And we love Atlantic Animal Hospital. The staff are so kind, cheery, and sunny people! ☀️

When I moved here from San Diego I needed to find an office to take my dachshund to for his vet care. We have been coming here for 2 years now and absolutely love it. The staff is very helpful and courteous. I had my 6 month old and my dachshund and was by myself so one of the lady's helped me to the car. My dachshund has had surgery a few times and goes 3 times a year. They're absolutely wonderful and I trust them with my dog. The services are great and worth every penny.
