Services
Life can be hard. There are times when all of us truly need help and support to navigate difficult challenges. When you're struggling, I know you want to feel better and to get back on track as soon as possible. No one chooses to struggle, and seeking help is often the smartest choice. That's why my approach to counseling is client-centered and solution-focused.
As far back as I can remember I wanted to help empower people and instill positive change. I wanted to comfort these characters and help them feel honored and loved. There's also a tradition of caregiving in my family that guides that desire. My grandfather was a business man who never engaged in a transaction without getting to know the client first.
Are racing thoughts impacting your ability to manage stress, concentrate on tasks or engage socially? Perhaps you feel overwhelmed, on edge or fearful that something terrible is about to happen. Maybe these feelings have flooded you following a recent distressing event, such as an accident, death of a loved one, break up, move or another major life transition.
Perhaps persistent sadness or heightened stress has caused physical discomforts, such as lethargy, insomnia, or an imbalanced appetite. As a devoted Christian, do you feel as though your faith should be able to pull you through this trying time? Perhaps you pray, attend church, read the Bible and give to and help others, but even living in accordance with your Christian values doesn't seem to ease your suffering.
Perhaps you're trying to adjust to a medical diagnosis, menopause, postpartum depression, a divorce, a move, or a career change?. Maybe this change took you by surprise, and you feel angry and unprepared to deal with it, maybe even helpless. Or, perhaps you're going through what is often considered a positive life change, such as a promotion at work, a new baby, or retirement, and you feel guilty and confused about your unhappiness.

Some years ago, I had relocated back to the Quad Cities from a short stint in TX and it had brought to a head an unmanageable number of issues for me. Some were unresolved childhood issues, current marital issues, and just feeling emotionally, physically, and spiritually overwhelmed. Through counseling with Denise I was able to find my way back to forgiveness and healing, and to become a whole person again. I also appreciated her great tips about "boundaries" and how to deal with difficult interpersonal relationships with my biological family. I highly recommend her....experience in counseling
