Stopped in for a late lunch on back-to-college move-in day. First time trying and was very happy with quality and portions. I had the lime jalapeño shrimp with corn tortillas- delicious, just the right amount of spicy to make you sweat but still can taste all of the flavors. Complimentary chips and salsa is always a bonus, salsa was a little on the mild side for our taste.

I am an unusually generous commenter- if I cannot give a generous comment, I usually don't. But this was AWFUL. How do you screw up Mexican food?!? I ordered the multi-enchilada plate, and they all came out half frozen!!!!!! I sent them back (and they were very apologetic) but when they came back out, they were not tasty or appealing at all. I ended up paying full price + tip, but (much to my server's sha grin) I left 3/4 of my food on the plate and did not want a to-go box. I probably won't go back.

I absolutely LOVE the mangonada alcoholic drink they have. Its spicy but still has the sweetness as well. But it's not too spicy. We got the street corn, which is sweeter than I usually make mine but it was really good anyways. They have a great variety of food available. I almost forgot to get a photo of my tacos I ordered. (Which i forgot what the name of them were but its barbacoa something) I apologize! But the meat was so tender and had so much flavor. The second time I went I got a meal that had steak onion pineapple and cheese and I asked if they would add shrimp which they happily obliged

Unexpected visit to Pella past the lunch rush. I ordered a steak quesadilla and it came with beans and rice. The quesadilla was phenomenal, rice was delicious but refried beans were very underwhelming.
My husband ordered the burrito California. It was absolutely ginormous. He said it was unexpectedly great. The chips and salsa were really delicious as well! My lunch margarita was potent!
The restaurant appeared clean and the bathrooms were clean. Staff was not overly friendly but whatever. I'd go back for the margaritas and food for sure!

First time at Cantaritos and though we've been past it plenty of times, never stopped for some reason. Well today we did and I can say I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is nice and service was quick. My wife had the Fit Fajitas which she described as delicious. My son had the California burrito and he got through half of it. I had the Tampiqueno Steak which is a combination of Ribeye, Chorizo, and Chicken with homemade corn tortillas and rice and beans. All the dishes were very good. The menu is extensive and the hardest part of the visit is trying to decide what to order.

You can ignore the very few early reviews regarding wait times for food and small portions. If those reviews were even real, whatever the issues were back then have been resolved.
My experience was a very friendly staff that was attentive, great chips and salsa, and thank God they had Pepsi products! I ordered the California burrito and WOW I was not expecting it to be the size of my upper arm. Whoever was complaining about portions must be a competitive eater.
The guac was awesome and I'm pretty picky about my guac. I dont even remember what my wife ordered but both of our plates were clean

I had two steak street tacos and they were very good. A little overloaded with the steak but that's a nice problem to have! The rice and beans are excellent and the chips and salsa (toned down for Iowa) are very good. I should know, I'm from Texas. The margaritas not so bueno. I tasted more mix than authentic margarita. I actually asked if they were made with wine instead of tequila. I was assured they were made with tequila. Maybe just an off night? The Manager offered to make a special one, but I wasn't interested. He was very kind! I'll be back.

Depending on your mood.... it may be a good or a bad thing. If you are hanging with friends for drinks and in no hurry....go at a peak time and you will have ample time to visit. I prefer to go at the slower times of the day and get service a little quicker.
If you like spicy...the chili Colorado is very much so. (A little too hot for my taste buds, but I'm kind of a weenie).

While in town to do some wedding planning with friends and climb the observation tower at Cordova Park, we stopped at Cantarito's for lunch. The business recently took over the location from another restaurant and has quickly become a favorite. The portions are huge and everything tasted delicious. Our party of four had guacamole, burritos, and enchiladas. Service was decent and the restaurant was clean. We'd definitely come back if we lived in the area.
