In 2007, Dawn Eskins and her two daughters founded one of the country's first cupcake bakeries in their North Carolina kitchen. Upon discovering that local schools mandated store-bought party food, this lifetime baker began creating safe, all natural alternatives. Dawn Eskins continues to open new retail locations and to create new desserts, at the bakery and on stage.
Appearances include local and national baking shows, women's shows and culinary events from MD to SC. Almost immediately, a dedicated wheat and nut free kitchen, Food Allergy Bakery, was established to meet the needs of children with special diets. Because everything was created from scratch, substitutions made it easy.

Services
Extreme measures are taken to ensure safety, such as a separate air handler, dedicated ingredients and sealed packaging. Food Allergy Bakery (FAB) is the dedicated wheat and nut free kitchen of Carolina Cupcakery. FAB items are baked fresh then stocked in our freezers daily, available on a first come basis.

Save yourself and go down a few more blocks to Sweet Kream Bakery (good Customer service and a great product). I usually don't leave reviews. However my experience with this company was unacceptable. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Customer service is awful 😖. This order was actually place over the phone with a staff that never mentioned the policy nor did she ask for any payment or give me a due date for payment. Leaving me believe it could be paid for the day of pick up like other bakeries. They left my daughter without a birthday cake on her birthday because they send a email to the WRONG

Always friendly service and delicious cupcakes!! They did cupcakes for my daughter’s wedding a few years ago- they were amazing!
I stopped in today to get my daughter a 30th birthday cupcake treat and they gave me candles to put on the cupcake!
I also love that they have sugar free options for my husband- he is diabetic and enjoys having a tasty cupcake from the shop!

Top-notch customer service here! We ordered 25 cupcakes for our son's classroom for his birthday. Once we got home, we noticed that the individual containers used to store the cupcakes were too small and the frosting had mashed up against the top of the container and when removing the tops, part of the muffin came apart with the frosting. We emailed the store a 5:00p.m. and received an immediate response from the owner, offering to fix the problem first thing in the morning. I took the effected cupcakes to the store and they promptly re-frosted the cupcakes and placed then in appropriate containers

We love stopping into Carolina Cupcakery! The cupcakes are huge and always tasty - great value for the price. The edible cookie dough is always a favorite. They have great options for varied dietary needs - gluten-free, keto, and they have a dedicated nut-free baking space (not everything is nut-free, so it’s still worth an ask!). The staff is always really friendly. Bonus - they have a rewards program and give a cash discount.

I called Cupcakery at the last minute so I really appreciate them making a cake on short notice however, I was told I did not have to put it in the refrigerator, then when I went to pick the cake up I was told to put the cake in my trunk. I was more comfortable having my husband hold it, but when I had to get the balloons I put the cake in my trunk for a 10 min drive going slow with my hazard lights on. Got to my daughter's sweet 16 party to decorate and my cake looked like this. I sent in pictures and was told there's nothing they can do. The cake did not taste good and was very dry.

We had an amazing experience! We had them do two different flavored cupcakes for our wedding and we went with Almond I DO and Bromance (Chocolate/Peanut butter with whiskey buttercream, candied bacon, and chocolate chips!!!) We also had them make a 6in cake for us and it was spectacular. My husband and I didn't know exactly what we wanted but after talking to them, they knew what we would like. Everything tasted amazing and our vendors loved them too!!

The cupcakes we had were fair. They were a little dry for my daughter’s and my taste. The flavors were good. My husband like the chocolate chip cookie with peanut butter and M&Ms. We will likely try other cupcakes in the area before returning. Their customer service was good and they have options for keto and vegan diets.

This was my first time ordering a cake from Carolina Cupcakery. The day I ordered the cake I actually bought quite a few cupcakes to try and they were all really dry, so before I placed the cake order the next day I asked the lady on the phone if the cake would be different. I figured with all the cupcakes they had in the display case there was probably no way they made them fresh daily, so I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. They assured me the cake would be moist. I am fully aware that I should've known better since I tried it first and had the same experience. Overall the cake

My husband and I chose Carolina Cupcakery for our wedding. Dani and the staff were amazing from the start. I accidentially mistyped a cupcake name and she even created a cupcake based on what I typed. When we figured out what happened, she offered to make the correct cupcake and have it ready for us the following day. We chose four different types of cupcakes - Tiramisu, Bromance, Lavendar Kiss, and Choco-Mint Grasshopper. We also had some vanilla and chocolate cake pops (bride and groom) and all of those were gone. The anniversary cake was absolutely beautiful. All of our guests raved about everything

Very cute bakery! I purchased two different types of cupcakes- Key Lime and Pink Champagne. The frosting for both tasted very store bought. The frosting on the Key Lime cupcake was particularly hard. The consistency of both cupcakes was reminiscent of days old cornbread. I paid $9.80 for two cupcakes that I eventually tossed in the trash. These cupcakes definitely are not worth the money. This was such a waste of a cheat day!

This cake was kind of "last minute" surprise to our amazing boss! It was a challenge for us to find a bakeshop or baker to work with us in a very short period of time! And it was so kind of Carolina Cupcakery to take us in and they were very considerate, the staff was not pushy on unneccessary details for the cake. I gave the staff my vision and I wasn't expecting anything since I gave them a very tight time frame, but oh boy they delivered beyond belief! I wish that I had my Boss's reaction on video to give more justification for this review.

Finally... A gluten free and allergy sensitive bakery! I tried the vegan gluten free "partycake, chocolate fix, and carrot cake" they are delicious! Would have loved a vegan cream cheese icing for the carrot cake however still delicious! I also tried the gluten free lemon drop! I must say that lemon is my favorite so far! Moist, light, and full of sweetness!
My next trip I would like to try what they call "crazy 8" a cupcake without the top 8 allergy ingredients!

These are some of the worst cupcakes I've had since we tried Just Cupcakes. They were all stale. They all had dried out hard, flaky icing. I do not know how long they keep them in the display, but all SIX OF THEM WERE STALE. I would be more forgiving if it was just one, but it was all. The Hoho was the best one and that's not saying much. They were very generous with the filling and I appreciated that. Ultimately, they were so bad, we only took a bite out of each of them (two bites out of the Hoho one.) in the picture you can see the dried out icing on the bottom of the box.

Found this place in the plaza where I was ordering some takeout. I ordered a lemon, Pink Champagne, key lime, and a strawberry jumbo cupcake 4-pack. So picked up some red velvet vegan Donuts
The lemon cupcake was slightly dry. They state that they bake every day m house. I kind of felt like this cupcake was a day old. It's covid era and businesses are slow so I wouldn't be surprised and I can't be mad at that. The Pink champagne cupcake was interesting. I didn't quite understand what was the flavor that they were going for. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great

I'm sure their custom orders are great, assuming they are fresh, but I will never be back and don't recommend walk-in ordering from their case.
Before going into detail, I should add that I have a bakery background and have worked in several.
I went with friends, so i tried several flavors of cupcakes - we got 6 different total.
Its almost $4/cupcake. I tried the - strawberry lemon, lemon, vanilla "bean", red velvet, a chocolate peanut butter, and key lime pie.

I went to the Chesapeake location at 4:30pm on May 4th to pick up my cake. The cake was on a back shelf (that was not refrigerated) and completely wrapped for transport. I was handed the cake, my cake topper (it was not on the cake) and a pen to sign a piece of paper that I was told "verifies I picked up the cake". I left, drove 10 minutes to my home and unwrapped

I came to Carolina Cupcakery with one goal in mind, which is to eat some Red Velvet cupcakes.
The first thing I noticed is the amount of cakes, cupcakes, and sweets that they have inside the store. I felt a little bit overwhelmed, but it feels like heaven. The store was very well decorated, but I noticed that the store was not well lit.

The French toast cupcake was awesome! Very different but tastes like the real thing!

I had no issues with this place! I had recently reviewed another bakery down the road as well. I would say this place wins! Flavors were great, not dry or crumbly like comments mentioning below. Service was a tad slow but worth it. Price is higher but it's local not a mass manufactured process. I was surprised at the cost of the jumbo cupcakes but they only make regular size cupcakes on special advanced order...my qualm with that is, well the jumbo sized cupcakes are your regular sized cupcakes! And regular sized cupcakes would be small or mini sized...
