Services
It's been almost a century since my grandfather, Ed Hixson, and great-uncle Jim Hixson settled in Central Louisiana in 1907. At that time, Alexandria was little more than a village. They soon purchased the Hoyt Funeral Home and Livery Stable, located at Fourth and DeSoto Streets. They had three horse drawn vehicles and made caskets by hand, to the measurements of each individual.
When you first begin the process of designing a funeral, the decisions you'll face might seem overwhelming at first. We're here to help you tackle the choices one by one and make the journey one of love, healing, and life celebration.
The process can be broken down into two stages: decisions regarding the service and how you'd like to honor your loved one's life, and decisions regarding how you'd like to care for your loved one's physical remains.Whether it's formal or informal, traditional or offbeat, a funeral provides an opportunity for family and friends to gather and support one another in taking the first steps of their healing journey.

Sometimes the thought of planning a funeral seems too difficult for those who've suffered a loss. We're here to help lighten your burden and remind you of the true value a ceremony can hold for you and your family. Coping with a loss is never easy, and services are an essential part of the recovery process.
Even the smallest touch can make a big difference in personalizing your funeral services. There's no right or wrong when it comes to celebrating your loved one and honoring their life, accomplishments, and individuality. Personalization isn't just about honoring your loved one's individuality. It also allows family and friends to feel connected to the services and the life being honored.
We're proud to do our part in honoring our country's veterans for their dedication and selfless service by giving back to those whose sacrifice and patriotism define our great nation. We would be honored to help you make arrangements for any combination of traditional military tributes because we believe it's our duty to provide you and your family with professional and dignified assistance during your time of need.

Losing a loved one or family member can be devastating. As a family we recently lost our Mom and had to travel from Texas to Alexandria for the service. Hixson Brothers handled every detail and we’re extremely professional. The level of personal service provided by Samantha and Julie was the best! We felt like they were part of our family.

My family has used Hixson Brothers throughout the years and never been disappointed in their caring service. When mom passed in May, 2021, we brought her from Texas to be buried at home next to my dad. Working with the kind staff and specifically Samantha, we were able to make most of the arrangements by phone. Samantha made the experience very personal for my family and we will always be grateful for the beautiful service. I highly recommend Hixson Brothers.

Terry was wonderful to work with when my sister passed away in March. He was so patient with my niece and I as we were planning my sister’s service. Julie has checked on my family via text several times since my sister passed. She has shared sources to help us through our grief. We are pleased with our experience with Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.

Hixson Brothers has been wonderful to my family and me. Not only was the funeral everything we asked for, but they have been a source of support since. Julie has made a point to check on us periodically since my mother’s death. She even contacted us on my mother’s birthday to honor her and check on us. They are much more than a funeral home. I would highly recommend them.

The staff at Hixon Brothers were incredibly compassionate and helpful in our needs. They made a confusing and very emotional time so much easier and everything ran smoothly. The funeral home itself was very clean and comforting. The staff seemed to genuinely care about my family’s needs. I am glad that we chose Hixon Brothers and would recommend to anyone.

Hixson Brothers Funeral Home provided the most personal, caring and extensive help that I have ever heard of or experienced during this most difficult time - the death of my father. I would hope that everyone could have such a wonderful spirit-filled experience as this during a time of great grief. GOD bless and thank you so much for your love and care!!! Yours in Christ, Willie Leonard
