The Recreation Center Cafe is a generational family owned and operated hometown Tex-mex and American restaurant in Encinal, Texas. Since 1970, we have been providing ranchers, hunters, oil fielders, locals and passer throughs great food and great service. Located just off I-35, we are 39 miles north of Laredo.

If you are looking for good great food and good company, stop on down to The Recreation Center Cafe in Encinal, TX. The Recreation Center Cafe began as a bar back in 1970. As business began to pick up, customers wanted food and requested some dining options. Eventually, we built an addition and added the Cafe.

OK, so it would be unfair to dumps to call this building a dump. The floor is collapsing, the ceiling is damaged, the trip to the men's room is an adventure in its own right, and the lady's room has a sink that almost falls into your lap when you try to use it. Love eating here. RIchard is so friendly, food is always good. The place is a hole in the wall with a lot of character. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered.

Best breakfast tacos in town. Good home style burgers as well. If you like battered fries they have Encinal’s famous french fries, which were good.
