When a disc herniation becomes severe, patients may begin to experience burning, numbness, tingling and weakness in their upper or lower extremities due to nerve root compression. If these symptoms are the result of a large herniation, your surgeon may decide to perform a discectomy. This surgery removes the protruding disc material, freeing up the nerve roots.
Golfer's elbow, also known as Medial Epicondylitis, is characterized by pain from the elbow to the wrist on the inner side of the elbow. Repetitive forces can cause the tendons that attach to the bone on the medial side of the elbow to become tender and irritated. Common symptoms include pain and tenderness on the inner side of the elbow, elbow stiffness, and weakness in the hand or forearm when attempting to grip objects.
Arthritis occurs when cartilage within a joint wears away, leading to inflammation and irritation from bone on bone contact. In the hip, this occurs between the head of the femur and the acetabulum on the pelvis. Hip arthritis can occur from normal aging, previous hip injury, increased stress on the hip joint and genetics.
We have an innovative, life-saving program for older adults to combat falls. Our Fall Risk Assessment and Prevention program determines who is at risk of falling by identifying "risk factors" through a series of tests. Our physical therapist will then create a physical therapy program, including an exercise regimen, to help the patient regain balance and reduce their risk of falling.
