Beware! There are only 8 reviews of this place. Which means that many, many negative reviews--including mine--have somehow been deleted. I won't go into the details (again), but hotel guests are discouraged from taking advantage of the included hot breakfast, and if they do ask, they get one(!) "baked" egg. The rooms are tiny and filled with useless knick-knacks that take up space and leave no room for anything guests bring. As I originally mentioned, don't stay here if you have any more luggage than a toothbrush. Ironically, the rooms have pillows EVERYWHERE! I counted 17 pillows

This is by far the best place to stay in Skagway and a top place to stay when visiting Alaska. The Owner is top notch and does what he can to make your stay the best. Breakfast in the morning is always hot and fresh. The information about each of the room former history is awesome. I look forward to stay here in the future.

The history behind this place and the owners who run it were all amazing. Breakfast in the morning and overall hospitality couldn't have been any better. I've never been to Skagway let alone Alaska, and I can definitely see myself coming back to this town and staying at the Skagway Inn in the future.

Also reading a lot of these Karen reviews, I feel like they were expecting a 5 star stay from a hotel in Vegas or something. This is a family owned and operated business. Appreciate the little things and the small town vibes.

My review is not based on a stay, but on their billing, correspondence, and refund practices. In February, I made a reservation for six people on two nights this August for a trip on the Chilkoot Trail. I made the reservation online and was billed the full amount of my stay - almost $1400 - up front. The reservation said it was refundable up to 30 days prior to our stay. But I tried to contact them in February with questions, and they never responded to my phone calls or emails. Now I need to cancel my reservation, and although I am well before the cutoff for the reservation to be refundable, they

Excellent food and atmosphere. From soup to desert it’s a must try. Everything is home made and fresh, and lots grown in their garden outside. From a 9 year old to vegetarians, everyone ate great and was stuffed. Highly recommend to everyone.

This place is charming :D

To begin with, they are easy to talk to. Gotta love great customer service like that. My wife and I were going to hike the trail and made reservations to stay here after. We asked if we could leave a bag with them so that we didn't have to carry it with us and they were happy to accommodate our request.

After a few days on the trail we were really looking forward to the comforts of a warm shower and a comfy bed. When we came back, we eagerly picked up our bag and got in our room so that we can enjoy some of these luxuries we had missed.

I had a few hours in town with a cruise line. I am not too familiar with the town, but this may well be one of its best restaurants. The food was well prepared, the ambiance was nice on the patio. The inside has a homely feel and we would have gladly sat there too. It has a vegetable garden and apparently one of the few apple trees in Skagway! Well worth a visit after a hike or a stroll around town. Also, those French fries are delicious!

Chilkoot hikers, beware! After confirming 2 months ahead that we would have an en suite bathroom, the front desk gave our room to a couple without a reservation, leaving us in an exceptionally hot, bright room without a shower. You can't trust they'll get it right, much less care when they don't.

We had the halibut and salmon puff pastry. We didn't even know you can have fish in a pastry like this. The salmon was fine but the halibut tasted exceptionally good.
The seafood chowder is good. We just came from the world famous Pike Place Chow a few days before which is said to be the best anywhere. Olivia's chowder is more thick with different flavors, but still good!

Olivia's Bistro - We found this place quite by chance during a cruise with Carnival; it is located at the end of Main Street Skagway. Has a vegetable garden they actually pick from to feed their guests it was very busy but not crowded. We ate lunch here and the food was outstanding we thought we were done till the waiter asked if we wanted some cake. The carrot cake was a perfect finish to the meal! The price was a little on the pricey side but the food was fresh and well worth it.

We were told all week what great margaritas Olivia's has. Well let me tell you that they are not made from scratch, they're made from a kit which was disappointing.
We did order a couple plates to share to make tappas with. The food was nice and tasty although pricey.
I don't think we'll be back to this restaurant.

Food and service were delightful. Snow crab was divine, the seafood chowder was flavorful, and the halibut cakes were cooked perfectly. The rhubarb crisp was my favorite- tangy and sweet. Check your ticket to see if a tip was auto-added before you add it if paying by card.

Our lunch at Historic Skagway Inn was the absolute best meal we had our entire trip to Alaska. The salmon that I had for lunch was by far the best salmon I have ever had. Of course, as it should be since we are in Alaska and there shouldn't be a shortage of Salmon. Although, what do I know about that.

The restaurant part is small and intimate. The bathroom I used was upstairs amongst the rooms so I peaked in and this is a very old and quaint place to stay if you get the chance. The beds looked pretty old but that just comes with an older building. They could use some upgrades on comfort

Had a fabulous dinner. Halibut puff pastry was divine. The chowder was creamy but soupy with lots of seafood. Better then the "best" in Seattle. Quite a lovely evening in a casual, bistro environment with lots of light.

A great place to eat. The food was fantastic and was probably the best that I had during our cruise. The server was very friendly and their recommendations were perfect. If I ever make it back up here again this place will be on my list of restaurants to visit again.

Excellent food great service.
The best food we have had on our 7 day cruise. The food was fresh seasoned to perfection. This was a awesome departure from all the fried fish we have found in all the other ports we visited.
The fish tacos were great comparable to San Diego who had the best hands down. Well this place does them right.
The halibut chowder was very good and my grilled halibut was wonderful. My wife's halibut pastry was equally amazing.

I didn't realize that I have not done a review on this god awful place. Since its getting close to Alaska cruisng season, I'd thought I save a soul and tell you to skip this place if you can.

If you're going on a Princess cruise to Alaska and are considering an excursion that includes a stop at the Historic Skagway Inn, please take a tour that does NOT come with food. In fact this applies to all the tours that has food. So far none of the tours we took on Princess that came with "hot meal" were edible.

Save your money and eat at the ship. Really!

Ok, so our tour
