Services
Tawas Animal Hospital provides veterinary care to dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, pocket pets, reptiles and birds in the Tawas area. We're always happy to meet new pets. Purchased in 2017 by Dr. Jason Harrison, our practice continues to evolve with progressive services, tools, and technology to provide your pet with the best possible care.
Dr. Harrison has been a life-long Michigander. After growing up in Cheboygan, he attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a bachelors degree in Psychology. He then continued on to Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, receiving his degree with honors in 2002. He spent his first two years practicing in southern Michigan and moved back up north spending 13 years in Cadillac.
A good reason for putting a vet visit on the priority list is to establish an important connection called Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship. Discuss your pet's history and any questions you might have about feeding, medical issues, such as worm medications, and future care, such as microchipping, and spaying and neutering;.
As veterinary professionals, we know that visits to our hospitals are declining-and we know that the stress and anxiety associated with taking a pet to the veterinarian is a significant reason why. Fear leads to trauma for our patients, and as a result, pet owners visit their veterinarian less often or not at all, instead opting to seek advice and products from other sources.

I had the unfortunate need for an emergency vet while in the area for the Fourth of July but was very fortunate that I was able to have the Tawas Animal Hospital care for my dog. My dog is anxious around new people, but he was happy with the staff here and was returned happy as ever. Thanks so much for saving my Independence Day weekend.
