I believe it is important to consider all areas of development (motor, cognitive, speech, social-emotional, adaptive), as well as physical health and external influences when assessing and working with a child. This approach has been shaped by years of collaboration with parents, family members, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, teachers, doctors, nurses, and social workers.

Since all early learning stems from play, children often respond best when they are relaxed and enjoying themselves. Therapeutic support is most successful when strategies are taught to all the important people in a child's life, allowing implementation to occur throughout the child's natural day.
Services
Over the past 16 years of specializing as a pediatric physical therapist, I have had the pleasure of evaluatingand/or providing therapy services for over 380 children in a variety of settings, as well as managing a physical therapy department. I graduated from Saint Louis University with a master's degree in physical therapy, a bachelor's degree in exercise science, and a minor in psychology.
If it is determined that physical therapy will be beneficial for your child, an individual care plan will be created based on your child's needs and your family's goals. Treatment sessions will be scheduled in your child's natural setting. They will be play-based to engage your child while he or she works hard to achieve his or her goals.
A comprehensive approach means looking at children as whole people, not just sections of a developmental process. We need to think about how their multiple systems work together and what is important for their day-to-day life. For example, if a family's main goal is for their daughter to walk, we don't just look at her legs and feet.
Eileen is one of the most professionally mannered, creative, charismatic, and patient people I have had the pleasure of coming across. Her ability to work with children is truly a talent that goes beyond textbook knowledge and shows in her successful outcomes. It is her ability to simultaneously ease concerned parents' minds, however, that puts her head and shoulders above the rest!
A pediatric physical therapist is a movement specialist who works with children. Treatment often focuses on improving strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, safety, posture, joint alignment, proper body mechanics, motor planning, and endurance, among other elements of mobility.

Our main goal is helping children achieve their highest physical potential for their job of playing and navigating the world with confidence so they can be successful in whatever they choose to do.
