2021 WDA Winner Spotlight: Institutional Wood Design - The Discovery Center in Philadelphia, PA This is a fantastic space and we are honored to have collaborated on the project in a structural capacity. Congratulations to all Teams Involved and all the other national award winners! DIGSAU Structural engineer: CVM Contractor: INTECH Construction, Inc. Building.
The General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) recognized the Sister Cities Discovery Garden and collaborative teams for the 2020 Best Green Space Project. CVM acted as the Structural Engineer. This project, inspired by Philadelphia's Wissahocken Valley, provides visitors with winding pathways, scalable rocks, and a meandering stream that connect natural elements with the man-made environments surrounding them.

Services
Building envelopes are continually evolving, serving to protect occupants and interior environments from outside weather extremes in evermore efficient and creative ways. CVM's professionals are broadly and deeply experienced in materials and systems spanning the complete exterior closure, from below-grade waterproofing, extending upward and over the uppermost roof features.
Historic preservation is an inherently sustainable practice, however, its implementation can be challenging. As preservation engineers and restoration architects, CVM has again and again balanced modern energy conservation and building envelope performance goals with the sensitivity necessary to preserve our historic fabric and cultural history.
When your parking facility is in need of restoration, you want to be confident that your budget and repair plans are sound. CVM's professionals can establish the range of viable approaches, their comparative costs, and match them with your expectations on operational impact, funding, and longevity (time period between renewal programs).
Structural engineering is a core discipline at CVM, and is the basis of nearly every part of the built environment. Every building has a life cycle. New structures are designed and constructed, beginning life in the world in service to human activities and resisting natural forces.
During the building's conception, CVM design engineers expertly collaborate with architects and other design professionals to design sophisticated and robust structural systems.CVM's engineers are enthusiastic and creative contributors to the design of both new buildings and adaptive re-use programs, and the alteration of existing structures.

Building structures are resilient - usually capable of withstanding dramatic weather events, resisting loads they were never intended to encounter, enduring years of neglect, yet remaining in place. Whether a structure is damaged through man-made or natural causes, or is in need of a strengthening upgrade, CVM delivers effective solutions.
