Are your medical bills piling up? Has the pandemic set you so far back financially that you can't recover? Are late fees and penalties piling up, pushing you further into debt every day? Are you afraid to answer the phone or open the mailbox because it's just going to be another bill collector threatening you?
Unfortunately, no matter the good faith of the parties involved, not every divorce or family matter can be resolved through negotiation. Sometimes, you will need someone on your side, fighting to protect your and your family's interests. A divorce lawyer in Eagle, Summit, Lake or Clear Creek County, CO can help.
The world can throw you unimaginable curveballs that upset even the most carefully crafted plans. In such a topsy-turvy world, it is imperative to try to control what we can, so we can face the unanticipated difficulties that life brings with a clear heart and mind. Nowhere is this more true than the critical end-of-life decisions we'll all eventually face.
For better or worse, conflict is part of the human condition and the dreaded lawsuit or litigation is the manner we, as a society, have chosen to resolve many conflicts. We're all aware of the horror stories about the costs and stresses of litigation, the time involved, the uncertainty, and the lack of control over the end result.
Contrary to what you might believe from popular media, not every divorce requires a knock-down, drag-out fight. In many cases, a divorcing couple can find the peace of mind, finality, and clear path forward they seek in order to make the best of their new circumstances through mediated divorce.
Mediated divorce is a process by which divorcing couples meet with a trained, neutral third-party mediator to negotiate a fair resolution of whatever divorce-related issues may exist, from division of property, to maintenance, to parenting plans, to child support.Resolution of a divorce through mediation generally proves to be substantially less stressful, expensive, and time consuming than traditional litigation.

My ex-spouse and I hired Melissa to mediate on our behalf. Melissa charged us $600 up front and told us this would include 2-3 hours of mediation, and the filing of the paperwork with Eagle County. Initially, she did a good job of helping us reach an agreement that suited our needs. After our 3 hour conversation, we were asked to follow-up 3 weeks afterwards, so she could file the paperwork. Melissa wanted an additional $600 that was never mentioned up front. Even then, we agreed to move forward 6-8 weeks afterwards; Melissa never returned my ex-spouses phone calls. Melissa was also unprofessional

Melissa was a huge help through out my divorce and after. She was insightful and straight to the point. When it came to my mediation she was strong and willing to fight for what was fair and always happy to help with all my questions. I highly recommend Melissa Decker to any of my friends who need legal counsel.

Melissa Decker is a Stanford and Yale Grad with obvious brains, but most of all a straight shooter that tells it like it is.
I'm 10 years into a custody battle; I've been through every situation in the Courts, CFI, Investigations, Support Orders, etc - This woman is the best Attorney I have ever spoken to.
If you are anywhere in the Eagle/Vail area, go sit with her, it will be the best move you ever made.
Most of all, she is a woman after my own heart which is: treat people more than fairly, undercharge them relative to everybody else yet give them superior service and knowledge, be smarter
