When you enroll your child in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at Bernardo Faria BJJ Academy, your child will endure a lifetime of benefits. Our Kids and Teens program not only teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self defense techniques but we also teach them to be the best they can be inside and outside the academy.
The fundamentals program at Bernardo Faria Academy is designed for everyone at any age and fitness level. We have created a welcoming environment that will allow you to develop a foundation and learn the basics of Jiu-Jitsu in a controlled, safe, and fun environment. Our curriculum will implement an introduction to all the basic positions, techniques, submissions, and escapes.
Our intermediate program was designed for those who have completed the fundamentals curriculum/ and or have attained at least a 2stdegree white belt. The intermediate curriculum will help in preparation to achieve your blue belt, begin sparring, and graduate to the advanced class. In the intermediate courses, you will begin to incorporate more complex movements and learn to connect different techniques.

I’ve gone just to three classes, and it’s been very good. The free trial class captures low hanging fruit, like how to fall correctly and stand up effectively. Then, when you start doing the “real” class, they walk you through and make sure you get it, for beginners like me. It seems this place has only 5 star reviews except for two people with the same complaint. Idk who that bad staff member is but so far everyone their has been nice. Hopefully they can root out whatever problem that was

Whether you're thinking about trying brazilian jiu-jitsu for the first time or if you're a seasoned veteran, I can't recommend Bernardo's academy enough. He is by far the friendliest and caring instructor I've ever had. The fundamentals classes are perfectly designed to give someone a strong foundation in bjj. In the short time that Bernardo's gym has been open, I've made leaps and bounds in my understanding of the sport/art. Class sizes are small so there is tons of personal attention and it's a perfect environment to ask questions. See you on the mats!

I trained with Bernardo for several years at the Marcelo Garcia Academy in NYC. His class was always fun because of Bernardo's personality. He is super friendly when he is teaching and dealing with students. He is a multiple time World Champion and when he rolls with high level students and peers he is deadly serious. He strikes that perfect Yin / Yang of playful and serious. The techniques he teaches in class are the same ones that have led him to victory in so many matches against the best of the best. If you live near his academy this is a place you should check out whether you are a weekend

Words cannot describe this experience. After competing at a local tournament we decided to attend a few classes at Professor Bernardo's academy. The academy was extremely clean and everyone was welcoming. To top things off, the level of jiu-jitsu was out of this world. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this academy to anyone!
