Doerler Landscapes was founded in 1962 by William K. Doerler on the day that I was born. The story goes something like this. Bill Doerler grew up very poor in Friendship, New York. The son of hard working immigrant parents, (his father was a gardener and his mother was a caretaker/maid) Bill didn't have enough money to pay for college.
So he did what any industrious, hardworking young man of his generation did, he worked his way through College. Pursuing a degree in Ornamental Horticulture at Cornell University, he alternated semesters at school with semesters at work. He worked in the Friendship Cottage Cheese Factory (you can't make this stuff up), sold pots and pans door to door, and even harvested minnows for bait to make ends meet.

It has also been a driving force in our growing concern for our community. Our firm has played an active role in giving back to many deserving organizations, either with substantial in kind services or charitable donations. Steve Doerler has led the way by serving on the boards of several outstanding organizations.
Growing strong relationships has been the foundation of Doerler's landscape management department since 1962. Doerler Landscapes has partnered with property owners and managers to create landscape management plans that enhance property values, increase curb appeal, and set their priorities to be a cut above the rest.

Doerler landscaping seems to be focused on corporate accounts or on private households with similar budgets. For a private homeowner, I would recommend them for consideration if someone is undertaking a large and expensive project and he/she wants a quote from several reputable firms. If you are looking for routine yard maintenance or if you are focused on a competitive budget, I would suggest you tread carefully. We were privately contracted with Doerler for several years when we terminated our relationship. Despite oral assurances that plantings would be guaranteed for a year, documentation

Very disappointing. I requested a quote for lawn service and some landscaping in my backyard. After several phone calls, I finally received a quote for $5000+ for weekly cuts, edging, fall/spring clean-up, and some mulch. This was $2000+ more than my neighbor paid for a comparable property. They never bothered to send a quote for the landscaping. Waste of time!!!
