Salon Mathis

To start off this review, I would like to state that I am never a complainer, I don't raise a scene, and I don't think I'm special. All of my experiences on my previous 2 visits with this company were really positive and I was excited to be back for my hair coloring. The morning the 6th of November, 2021, I had an appointment at 8:00am. I was actually set to arrive at least 10 minutes early but because of a major delay at Starbucks where I was unable to get out of the drive-through line (I had already paid so I couldn't just leave), I showed up at 8:05am (so I am 5 minutes

I made my Appt on Friday for Monday, and on Saturday spoke with my stylist on the phone and even sent pictures before and was so excited for my Appt. As soon as I stepped in the salon it felt very unwelcoming and my stylists just asked if I was her client and that was it. We stood there in silence for 5 min before she said we could go to her chair. From there it just got worse and worse. She never made me feel comfortable or welcome. There was nobody at the salon besides the stylist and another girl.

Super nice salon but you need to really be willing to throw your money. Just a trim of a very short hair, no blower, no stilling, 15 minutes of work and out of there with damp hair, it was $86.00. I lived in Houston for 22 years. Went to salons in Bellaire, River Oak and the Medical Center and for shampoo, trimming, hair blower and stilling never paid more than $75.00 dollars. So if you have a lot of money and don't know what to do with it go for it because it's really nice but not worth it for me. The prices are just outrageous.

Shelby is very friendly not only good at what she does but a great listener!! I showed her a picture of what I liked and she totally exceeded my expectations!!! My hair was so damaged and when I left the salon I felt like no body could tell me anything lol I loved my outcome!!

They advertised this great 1/2 off promo so I figured it would be an opportunity to try the salon. However, when I called for the free appointment they tried every avenue to disqualify me. I was asked if I'd ever used a box dye which I have in the past and was told for that reason I wasn't eligible. They of course would color my hair for full price! I call BS!
I've noticed whenever somebody gives you a less than stellar review you are very quick with the excuses. I highly doubt that the all natural product I used over 6 months ago affected my hair or remains in

My appointment was so fun!! Shelby and Amanda are quite the pair and I cannot even begin to describe how much I love my hair! I have never had my hair done this well. The way my highlights were done, look natural and my hair is so silky!! I could not be more pleased with my experience here and it was definitely worth every single penny! 10/10 absolutely recommend!!!

I came in to get a professional haircut to look sharper for my new job and the cut exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed my time at the salon very much, it has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Shelby was awesome & I will definitely be back.

This was my first visit to Salon Mathis since moving to the area. Shelby was very friendly and did a fantastic job explaining what she would do to my hair and the pricing before beginning to work on my hair. I love the color and cut. I will definitely go back.

I have had 3 haircuts at Salon Mathis and unfortunately, I have been disappointed every time. This most recent visit, I had my hair trimmed and styled curly. The visit took 36 minutes and I was charged $95 for shampoo, trim, and “blow dry”. Because my hair was styled curly, I left the salon with wet hair. The previous two visits they did not style my hair at all. I left with soaking wet hair.

Shelby was amazing. I’ve literally never been so obsessed with my hair before. I just moved to the area a month ago and I’m highly amazed by the talent at Salon Mathis. Definitely going to be my permanent spot for my hair salon.

Great experience! I am new to Texas and had my hair colored by another salon that really messed my hair up. I waited 6 months before I had the courage to go to another salon.
I had a consult and was given realistic expectations and up front pricing.
I returned a few days later and I am happy I found this salon. My hair looks amazing and exceeded my expectations.

Had my hair colored balayage here a few months ago. Where brown meets blonde in the front, my hair broke off, very hard to hide. I now have thin "bangs" that I still fight with every day. Stylist never said a word and I didn't notice (due to styling) until I got home. I only color 3x a year so my hair is not over processed.

Salon Mathis is the absolute definition of pampering in a friendly, professional atmosphere! The owner ,Amanda Mathis, does an excellent job coloring, styling, and cutting hair. After ten years with Amanda, I've never left unhappy with the fabulous job that she and her staff do. In addition to the fantastic job she does, she trains her employees to the high standards that she practices. She uses all natural and environmentally friendly products. I would never go anywhere else!

Perfect salon for you if you have 4 hours to blow getting your hair done and don't mind being hit with surprise charges when you check out. $65 for "extra ounces" of color. My hair is super fine and chin length, and I have NEVER had another stylist charge for extra color. I honestly believe they are scamming customers. Not to mention the owner is so rude. That's not how you run a successful business.

This is the third time I've had my hair done here. Last time (and this time) I was there for over 4.5 hours!!! Why do they take twice as long as any other salon for the same service?? Now, the price. Last time the price for highlights was around $200. I figured it would be the same this time since I was only there a few weeks ago. While you're in the chair they say you need this and that to get the effect you want...but NEVER once do they tell you the price!! They said my hair was thick so they charged an ADDITIONAL $65 for a few ounces of color. My hair isn't any thicker

Amanda and her staff are FABULOUS!! I've been going to Amanda for over 6 years and I will never trust another person to do my hair. She is extremely knowledgeable and will not let you walk out looking for feeling anything less than AMAZING!

Horrible experience... I spent over $225 my first appointment I had then made a follow up appointment because of a promotion.. I was 20 minutes late .. they cancelled my appointment ... considered me a no show and said the only way I could make an appointment with them was if I paid $75... no exceptions!!!And that doesn't even go towards the next service... I thought they valued me as their customer!!!! I can't help traffic !!!!!!!!

I was tempted to update my review and add additional issues I've had with the salon. However, I don't see a need to do so. My previous review stays the same. If the owner would have cared this much about customer service she would've never turned a happy customer into one that'll never visit her again. That's all I have to say.

Will not be back. Stylist was sweet but inexperienced, no consult prior to shampoo then she dried my hair before cutting which left me uncomfortable. (When I left I had to change plans and head home to shower because I was so itchy.) When she took the drape off I was surprised she was through.
