Over the last year, my practice has evolved to include more labwork and telemedicine. We can now announce that we have transitioned to a fully-Zoom (or phone and email) practice format. This will allow us to focus on functional labwork tests, Zoom consultations, targeted nutritional therapy and some other projects such as updating The Symbiont Factor book.
Our practice location in Ellsworth is now closed. Contact information hasn't changed, so the same phone number, email, and website will still work!. We then work at building "plasticity" or brain learning, to build better function where it is needed to improve health and abilities. This work involved teaching the patient how to identify patterns of dysfunction and how to exercise or stimulate the brain to elicit better function.

Dr. Matthews wrote a book about gut bacteria, which is titled The Symbiont Factor. A "symbiont" is an organism that lives in a (usually) mutually beneficial relationship with another. The Symbiont Factor explains how our gut bacteria have evolved to become essential to healthy normal function. These organisms influence our brain, neurotransmitters, immune function, mood, metabolism and more!
