The Olympic is a unique, romantic and elegant event venue in the center of the cutest neighborhood in Cedar Rapids. The Olympic is taking every precaution to keep our staff and visitors safe. Regularly cleaning and sanitizing with breaks between each rental, and more frequently wiping down high traffic areas.

Experience something unique and different from every other wedding you've attended. The elegant and traditional feel in the space will already make your guests feel welcome, and the modern upgrades will make them want to stick around. We are a group of enthusiastic entrepreneurs dedicated to seeing the NewBo community thrive.
Several parking spots will be reserved in the attached lot, with hundreds of additional on-street parking spaces and Lot 44 just a block and a half away. Security personnel will be provided to keep those wedding crashers out during the neighborhoods busy season. The venue team will help coordinate with your vendors to ensure your big day runs smoothly.
Parking in NewBo is easy, with many options within easy walking distance of The Olympic, including 400+ on-street parking spaces and 1,000 in city-owned lots nearby. And almost all of the parking options are free! Surface parking immediately adjacent to the Theater is often available in the lot by the main entrance.
Although social distancing limited our number of meeting participants the team at the Olympic treated us professionally at every detail. The facility is beautiful, the sound and video system is perfect. Anna, Olympics manager, was available to handle every detail. We are anxious to return and would strongly recommend Olympic for any business venue large or small.

I booked The Olympic over two years ago while it was still under construction and I finally got to get married there last weekend. It's a gorgeous space and it was so worth the wait/delay to get married there! This space provides something unique and memorable. Every wedding guest I talked to commented on how beautiful the venue was. Brandi was also wonderful to work with. She was extremely responsive and accommodating with all of my requests. We booked a retirement party for about 150 people at The Olympic. The venue was fantastic! Plenty of space with two stories and a large stage. The venue has a super media setup with a high resolution projection unit and sound system. The bar staff was professional and worked hard to keep glasses filled. I highly recommend The Olympic South Side Theater for large events. Their staff is great and the location and space exceeded our expectations.

We attended the Harry Potter themed dinner with the magical "talents" of Mykala Oz. The food was good but the entertainment felt like I was at a birthday party for a 6 year old. Hint: if you have to say "that's it" at the end of your trick, it's not a good trick. She did this on several occasions. I don't really fault the Olympic, aside from not really researching the talent level of the performer before charging $75/ person. I think this venue is beautiful! Holy cow! It’s clean, big, grand, in a great location and accommodable. However, I am giving it a three because the manager was very short and kind of rude. She opened up and was nicer towards the end but I felt as if she was judging the whole time and was annoyed we were even there. I don’t care what kind of event you are hosting, it’s an event and it’s your paycheck. You should be professional, nice and enthusiastic the entire time. I was just the wedding planner and I had the bride telling me these things.

The Olympic is a very beautiful venue. My gorgeous wife and I were married and had our reception there in August of 2020. Thanks to Anna we had our dream wedding! She worked hard to make our day amazing. We loved how she spent time customizing our day for us from the ceremony to the reception. She didn't miss a detail. We couldn't have had a better experience.

The staff at the Olympic Theater are first class! We cannot say enough wonderful things about Anna, the manager. We booked The Olympic while still under renovation, because we could see Anna's vision for the space! When it was finally ready for public use, we couldn't wait to say "I do" in a stunning art-deco theater! Searching for a wedding venue in a pandemic was not a fun or easy task. But when we decided we wanted The Olympic to host our wedding we never regretted our decision. Anna was incredibly responsive and helpful in getting us everything we needed. We were particularly impressed in how The Olympic was innovative in wedding hosting during a pandemic.
