To maintain a safe environment for all of our guests and staff, we encourage timed entry tickets purchased in advanced. Please arrive in the time block on your ticket and explore the Museum at your leisure. Purchase advanced tickets. The American Sign Museum is dedicated to the art and history of commercial signs and sign making.

The American Sign Museum is proud to be the largest public museum dedicated to signs in the United States! Covering more than 100 years of American sign history in 20,000 square feet of indoor space, the museum is a walk through the ages of technology and design. The storefront-laden Signs on Main Street display recreates a typical "Main Street USA", with shop windows full of sign-related objects, curiosities, and samples.
Services
The American Sign Museum promotes sign preservation and restoration by displaying nearly 100 years of signage. We preserve and protect American history and pay homage to the artistry and craftsmanship of days gone by. The collection honors an often overlooked part of our culture that hides in plain sight as part of our daily lives.
The health and safety of our guests and staff are paramount at all times. When visiting we encourage the following based on recommendations by the Ohio Department of Health:. Advanced Timed-Entry: With advanced ticket purchases, simply print your tickets at home or present your e-ticket on your smart phone.
The Museum can be an exciting classroom to learn about history, language arts, design and more. Teachers and group leaders have used the Museum to create their own lesson plans, reading lists, tours, art projects and scavenger hunts. We also offer our own curriculum-based programs. To ensure a socially distant and safe environment, the ASM schedules groups on Monday and Tuesdays from 9am-4pm or Wednesdays-Fridays 9am-10:30am or 3pm-5pm.
Your membership helps the museum continue to bring in new signs, provide materials for field trips, and continue to be a public institution. Members of the American Sign Museum keep this museum operational. By becoming a member, you help support the museum. Our members receive a variety of benefits, including free admission for friends and family, and discounts on merchandise.
The museum's collection was not built in a day, and it relied on the generosity of others. Many of our most iconic signs were donations. All of our donors are formally recognized with descriptive tags accompanying each item that's on display.

If you have an item or sign that you think may be of importance to the museum, please email museum founder Tod Swormstedt at tswormstedt@americansignmuseum.org with pictures and any information you may have on the object.

A lovely place to see signs displayed from the pass in a storefront setting. A bit pricey admission for what you see. But overall great signs

I didn't put too much expectation on the museum before I went in. But after listening to their tour, this surprised me. It is surprising that there are stories and history behind those signs. I really enjoy this place and be sure check out their store!

Wow! Was very impressed and excited to visit this place. We had a great time. Top tier museum. $15 is an okay average for this museum. A suggestion some neon souvenirs in the gift shop. The t-shirts’ colors were dull. A place like this needs electric colors. It’s a must visit!!

Nice place! Wish it was more of a way to go up in there. Little signs you had to wait for the person in front of you to read the sign and some peeps like to hang around in front of the sign a little long. Enjoyed most of it though!

Cincinnati is home to the American Sign Museum!
The signs are displayed on replicas of store fronts and so many places in between. It's flashy, bright and full of flair.
I was so excited to come to this museum. There are beautiful murals outside and a lovely gift shop that sells postcards.

A wonderful stop for an overview of the sign industry electronic and neon industry. I wish a little bit more time was spent on displaying the artistic side of hand lettering. There is a show card display and lots of examples of hand lettered windows and a few wooden signs. Would love to have seen a reproduction of a sign shop with years of paint drippings on the floor Mall stick sitting on the table with the sign painters kit. Display a paper signs and other materials commonly used. There's also no examples of sandblasted routed or carved signs. Kind of the difference between "Sign Craft magazine

Super neat place to check out if you have a few free hours in Cincinnati. Admission is a decent price. Everything is all on one floor. It doesn't take too long to get through everything, but I recommend looking around twice because you can definitely miss stuff on the first trip around. Really cool place if you like vintage things. Staff was super friendly and willing to just chat about any of the signs.
