It's fall in the high desert, temperatures are dropping as New Mexico takes a magic carpet ride into the throes of winter. The aspens and cottonwoods shroud the landscape in a cape of gold, glowing against the blue skies in the pristine light. At this time of year, the night skies are crystal clear.

The moon, constellations, galaxies, and milky way light up the night sky like few other places on earth. Join me on a photo tour/workshop into the aspens of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. If you feel safe traveling, have proof of vaccination, and would like to join me here in New Mexico, I'm booking dates from now through the rest of the year and beyond.

Lunch at Bode's an establishment of some notoriety in the village of Abiquiu. A quote from Bode's website states: "A true general store, Bode's has been serving the needs of travelers, campers, bikers, bicyclists, boaters, sight-seers, etc, and the locals of Abiquiu since 1919." The renowned artist, Georgia O'Keeffe, made her home here, just across the road from Bodes.
On this tour, we will visit the Rio Grande as it winds its way through Orilla Verde National Recreation Area, home to beaver, otter, blue heron, and bighorn sheep. Surrounded by majestic volcanic cliffs and overlooks, we will photograph petroglyphs, riparian habitat, and views of the Rio Grande Canyon.
Spend a day photographing the sites of Taos. Old trucks, abandoned long ago, in fields with Taos Mountain as a backdrop. Picturesque villages, tipis and the occasional rainbow. Acequias, ancient water courses bringing life to the fields and farms in the Taos valley for centuries. The expansive views of the six hundred feet deep Rio Grande Gorge from the bridge spanning the river.

Geraint is incredibly familiar with the landscape and the best places to photograph, aside from being an incredibly talented photographer. He is also a great teacher, seeing things others miss and pointing them out to make for the best photographic opportunities. I recently spent 3 days with Geraint in and around northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. The results are some of my best photos, not to mention the number of "keepers". If you are looking for a great photography guide and incredibly knowledgeable talent you can't go wrong with Geraint.

I am a professional photographer but I wanted to hire a local photographer to teach my wife photography (despite trying myself, well, teaching and spouses often don't go hand in hand). Geraint was awesome and I can't recommend him enough. He took us to some great locations, he was awesome in teaching my wife and she had a blast. He is very patient and provided a lot of nice touches. If I come back to Taos and have time to photograph, I will hire Geraint to get me to some great spots!

Took a half day tour. Exceptional. Geraint has much knowledge to impart, and he does it in a low key manner aimed at not only at your level of photography, but what interests you. That interest can be technical how-to, types of things you like to photograph, areas you'd like to explore, or combination thereof. Very accommodating, interesting guide. I would take another tour and would certainly take a workshop should my skill improve.
