David I. Helfer Jewelers opened in 1936 when Pittsburgh was bustling steel town of wealth and commerce. The Clark Building was Pittsburgh's Diamond District where over 100 jewelers sold their products. The Clark Building now houses 3 floors of retail jewelers, wholesale dealers, and jewelry studios like ours.
David I. Helfer Jewelers is a third-generation jewelry shop in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. It is owned by Ira P. Helfer, who has been in charge of the family operation since 2012, but co-owned the business since 1978 with his father Jack Helfer. Jack became the owner of the business after David I. Helfer passed away in 1961.

Great experience overall. I had contacted them because my das purchased my mom’s engagement ring from Helfer’s in the 90s and had a great experience. Ira provided EXACTLY what I was hoping for and my new fiancé could not be any happier with the ring. We were using the stone from my grandmother’s ring and he took excellent care of it. Will definitely be back for regular cleanings!

I came here as they were highly recommended in a wedding group on Facebook. Reasonable prices, friendly staff. I had my white gold engagement ring sized down and they did a good job overall, though seems like they didn't re-coat the rhodium, so the seam yellowed very fast. I would have gone back to have it fixed but I waited till the last minute, so I had someone closer to my house do it.

Amazing service and they can make anything! I have been looking for a very specific custom ring for my husband and I. I have called at least 5 big-name jewelers and no one would be able to comprehend the design. I called David Helfer's and went into the office the next day... 4 hours later my custom order was placed, amazing prices, and quick service. I could not be happier with the service I received at David Helfer's Jewelers!
