Our services include the installation of solid and engineered wood flooring, hardwood floor refinishing, custom stain colors, custom fabrication of stair treads, risers, nosing and reducers. Prospect Hardwood Flooring specializes in the installation of traditional and custom hardwood flooring and stairs. We have installed hardwoods over concrete and plywood. We have worked with all types of hardwood both domestic and exotic. This includes wide or narrow planks, beveled or square edge, bamboo, cork and parquet, smooth, hand scraped to wire brushed, custom fabrication on stair treads, risers, nosing and reducers.

Area rugs are recommended in front of kitchen sinks, at all pivot points and within high-traffic areas. Do not use rugs with solid rubber or vinyl backings. The rugs must be made of a breathable material to prevent moisture entrapment. Use interior and exterior doormats at all entrances to collect dirt and moisture and prevent it from being tracked onto the floor.

Prospect Hardwood provided me with a poor product and rude and condescending customer service.
In March 2021 we had some of our wood floors refinished. Jodi coordinated the project for us and she was a delight to work with. The maple stairs were stained and finished with an oil-based polyurethane. Within 7 months, however, the stairs and landing were already showing wear in certain spots that our feet often find. Mike, the owner, came out to look at the issue, at my request, but was rude and unhelpful. He couldn't identify what the problem was but insisted that a re-screening would fix it

Unfortunately, I'm having to revise this review to reflect problems we had after the work was completed. Up to that point, it was a good experience , and the result was stunning. Out of a couple of problem areas we noticed, the major problem was with the Bona Mega One finish they used. The product is susceptible to permanent stains from reaction with anything made of rubber or vinyl that is placed on it. Tools with rubber feet, like an air compressor, or rubber furniture cups, for example. We used rubber furniture cups, only after the floor had cured for over a week, and they left permanent stains

TL;DR: Regardless of what the response to this review says, this is not a good company to do business with. A perfect example of a situation where a lower price is quickly outweighed by the headaches of a mediocre job that needs to be fixed over and over to get to an acceptable level. If you’re going to hire them anyway, always talk to Mike directly. The foreman has little to no interest in the quality of work and does not communicate with Mike in the way he portrays. 5 years ago, I had Prospect Hardwood flooring remove my 1st floor carpet AND ceramic tile and replace with hardwood floor. Best decision I ever made. Now I needed to have my 2nd floor carpet removed and replaced with hardwood floor. I immediately went to Prospect Hardwood Flooring.
Mike and Jody are a great husband and wife team. They were very patient, friendly, efficient, and HONEST. Absolutely a great bunch of people...from front office folks, to the workers who are first rate professionals. I had them refinish my existing hardwood back in 2018 and their work was outstanding. Then a few days ago had them replace most of my carpet with hardwood to match the existing and they didn't disappoint. Their pricing will beat any other offer, especially for the amount of work and detail they put in to their work.

I really wanted to like this place. Mike was friendly, gave me a reasonable estimate, so I decided to go with them for installing wood floors in the basement and stairs of my house. The first hiccup came when Jodi asked me about colors. To summarize, they had the wrong color down (Gunstock) when I wanted it to match my existing floors (butterscotch). Note that Gunstock is darker than butterscotch. Anyway, installers show up with butterscotch wood for both the stairs and basement, except the two woods are a noticeably different color. The workers were professional and knowledgeable when it came to installing hardwood floors in two bedrooms. When an issue came up during installation, they resolved quickly. They gave me confidence they knew what they were doing. They were hard working and kept to schedule. Floors came out beautifully.

Like many of you who find contractors using sites like Yelp or Home Advisor, I found this company and decided to get an estimate for floor installation because of the many positive and glowing reviews. After my wife and I picked a floor we liked, we decided to go with them due to the reasonable price point. Out of the 6 contractors we have had remodel our house within the past 6 months, this company ended up giving us the most heartache and nearly got to the point of going to court. Prospect Hardwood Flooring did an outstanding job refinishing my 60 year old hardwood floors. There were a lot of pet damage spots and dried paint from years of it being covered with carpet. I was really worried it wouldn’t be a good candidate for refinishing. But Mike assured me it would look great when it was finished and boy was he right! It looks like I spent thousands of dollars having a new floor installed. Amazing!!!
