At Lake Animal Hospital it is our mission to provide the highest quality care to our patients, while providing our clients education and assistance in all aspects of animal care. We strive to exceed expectations by treating all animals as if they were our own. Is your pet struggling with their weight?
Don't worry, quarantine was hard on everyone, pets included! We have a new food that pets love and will help them lose weight! This food allows them to eat less, but still feel full. Our clinic cat Pumpkin just started his new diet to get his beach body back, and we're already seeing results! If this sounds like something you would be interested in, give us a call and we can get the right food for you!

She is excited to be able to continue to serve the community. Originally from Barnum, Iowa, she graduated from Buena Vista University in 1985 and graduated from Iowa State University Veterinary Program in 1989. Dr. Johnson & her Husband Jerry, who is Assistant Professor of Digital Media at Buena Vista University, have 2 grown children, Darren & Emily, a dog named Walter, and a cat named Amber.
If they don't answer right away, PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE WITH YOUR NAME AND NUMBER SO THEY CAN RETURN YOUR CALL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We know you are under stress and want a Vet ASAP (we want that too!) It's better to have a few vets calling you back than none. Keep in mind that weekends are busy for everyone and veterinarians are no different.

The wonderful staff at Lake Animal Hospital are the reason I keep coming back. All of the vets, techs, and reception staff make sure that you have the information you need to be a responsible pet parent concerning regular care and when health concerns arise.
I love the text reminders for appointments and the communication and their follow up calls when needed with fast lab results.

They were able to take her in at the last second. Were super nice, realized I'm super attached to my pup & didn't make me feel silly about it. Always felt judged at the other one. I also felt Nahla was less… traumatized when she came home, even though the visit was more serious & she stayed longer. That shows alot & means everything to me! Thank you! So far so good, she is feeling better!

Critical: Quality
Let my cat suffer instead of telling me he was going to die and euthanasia was the best option. The medicine they sent him home with was labeled for dogs only. Terrible treatment and service. He suffered all weekend and they wouldn't see him the next business day even though they knew he was suffering.

We took our two female pups here to get spayed. Had no issues with the actual vet but the person at the counter. We were given aftercare paperwork for staples even though both dogs have stitches so we thought the vet had to take them out, called to make an appointment and was told they were dissolvable and would take care of themselves. Also incorrect. Both pups had to be held down and the stitches cut off because they were piercing their skin and causing bumps. We were also told the spay paperwork would directly be sent to the shelter where they were adopted and it wasn't until the shelter called

Brought my cat in for care and he died in less than a week. I brought him to be cremated and the office manager Tessa was very rude and raising her voice in front of another client. Then went behind a door and loudly said this isnt my problem. I stated that was very unprofessional for an office manager to say that in front of me and another client in the office. She then came back out to the front desk. I paid for my cats cremation and went to get him from the car. I got inside and was told I would be refunded that they didnt want to deal with me anymore. I then was shorted money in return because

Update: my cat died. This hospital killed her. Since the day I picked her up, her back end kept collapsing. It's a rare but fatal side effect of the rabies vaccine. She was dead within one week.
My first experience was a good one. I had called multiple vet clinics in various towns, looking for one that would spay my cat without requiring vaccinations. This hospital told me they do it all the time and it wouldn't be a problem. So I drove 40 minutes and paid $170 to spay my cat. They had me sign a waiver because I wasn't getting the rabies vaccine. My cat came back happy and healed up quickly and

My baby Echo was sick for a couple days and I had my fiancé got lake animal to see if they will see him even thou he didn’t have shots yet. And they kindly got him in on Monday February 18th and check on him… and gave him meds! He is so much better and back to his spunky self but still on the meds and no more going outside and playing around! Thank you so much Lake Animal I couldn’t lose another pet it would have broken my heart more then it already is..

Last Thursday night our little Chihuahua, Harper, fell down our hardwood steps. It was obvious that she was hurt. Dr. Bean drove back into Storm Lake and examined my little baby. Nothing broken but she was pretty sore. Not once did we feel like Dr. Bean was rushing through the exam. It was clear she wasn't letting Harper go home until she knew she would be alright. Both my husband and I felt so much better on the drive home. Thank you so much!
