Martial arts, first and foremost, is for self-development. Understanding and mastery of the self, to see oneself with eyes unclouded and endlessly improve, should be the everlasting goal of a martial artist. This is an admirable goal, but one that requires a tremendous amount of discipline. The Alliance Taekwondo Center was established in the autumn of 1995 specifically for the study and practice of the Korean martial arts tradition.
The school offers formal studies and training in three forms of traditional Korean martial arts; Taekwondo, Hapkido and Kumdo. Alliance Taekwondo continues to provide high-quality instruction in the Korean martial arts, and will strive to provide as many opportunities for the development of its students as possible.

The Greenquist Academy Family Taekwondo Association is the association of schools to which Alliance Taekwondo belongs, which was founded in 1983 by Grandmaster Eric Greenquist, and is still under his direction today. All schools in the Greenquist Academy are Kukkiwon certified Chang Moo Kwan schools, and are members of the United States Chang Moo Kwan Taekowndo Union (USCTU).
Master Linda Catalano began her training at the Bismarck School of Taekwondo in 1990. In 1996, when the Bismarck School of Taekwondo dissolved, she joined two other blackbelts from the school and founded Alliance Taekwondo. The three blackbelts met with a number of different Masters trained by Great Grandmaster Moo Young Yun, and enthusiastically asked permission of Grandmaster Eric Greenquist to join his association.

Washburn Taekwondo was originally founded in 2007 as a branch of Alliance Taekwondo, with Alliance black belt Charles Smith as head instructor. Master Charles Smith, a 2nd Dan at the time, successfully ran the school for three years prior to moving away to study at a university. At that time, Master Devon Waldron, then a 3rd Dan, took over the stewardship of the school, and maintained it for two years.
