Finally, it is important to note that acupuncture is often an effective therapy for other chronic and painful debilitating disorders that have no clear explanation or origin. However, you need not have any symptoms to benefit from acupuncture. You can also prevent illness, experience well-being, and improve your current state of health through treatment.
Acute or chronic pain affects over 100 million people in the United States each year. One of the strongest areas in Chinese medicine is that of pain management. Any pain in the body is considered a blockage. By breaking up this blockage and allowing the free flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood circulation, pain is relieved.
Using a holistic model (seeing the body, mind and spirit as a whole) we see that mental health cannot be separated from physical health. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are uniquely suited to helping patients with mental health concerns. As we become more balanced in all aspects of life, our state of mind also improves.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a system of diagnosis and treatment and refers to a broad range of medicine practices sharing common theoretical concepts which have been developed in China and look back on a tradition of several thousands of years, including various forms of acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage therapy, and dietary therapy.
Cupping is a type of Chinese massage, consisting of placing several glass or plastic "cups" (open spheres) on the body. Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin, soft tissues are pulled and blood is drawn to that area; it mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing.
