I chose to be a family law attorney because the first time I saw how much happier someone could be at the end of a divorce, I knew I was doing the right thing. It changed my entire perspective on what divorce actually means for someone.
My friends and family always told me that I should be an attorney. I had a knack for debate, and I wasn't shy about standing up for what I believe in. Although both of those things are important, that's not why I became a family law attorney. I chose to be a family law attorney because the first time I saw how much happier someone could be at the end of a divorce, I knew I was doing the right thing.
I grew up in Portland, Oregon and graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law in 2002. I have many years of experience helping people through family law cases, including divorces and custody disputes. I have always been drawn to family law because I have a passion for helping people through difficult situations.
Being a family law attorney always felt like the right path for me. I am the youngest of three children and come from a blended family. The troubles and emotional roller coasters of handling holidays, summer parenting time and joint school events was not easy, but my parents handled it well.
As I know firsthand both the struggles and the blessings of being part of a blended family, I am able to use that knowledge to be proactive in my client's cases, ensuring that their legal rights are protected and their goals are accomplished.I feel very fortunate that I get to help people find a better path forward.

Awful. Had my case today and my lawyer Megan basically gave up on me after the first 15 minutes of the case when she said the judge made up his mind. She didn't look at my messages regarding the lies with the surprise witness and when I asked her to call me back after she lost my case she ignored me and told me to schedule another appointment with her the next day to discuss. When she finally came to the phone after the receptionist even agreed she was unprofessional she said she didn't want to talk to me that night because "needed someone to blame" and that nothing she said would have changed

I hired them for my divorce case.
Requested a subpoena on my ex's money disappearing.
My attorney kept on assuring it will take time & process is in progress for almost a year every time we talked.
We were too close to court date & too late to take any action, when I knew she didn't even start the process, and I had to settle the case the way it is as we weren't prepared.
When I send an email requesting a clarifications and answers, they simply dropped my case.
Don't trust them.

Ryan Hamilton completely understood my position from the initial consult and paired me with Daniel Strausbaugh, who was a brilliant guide through the entire process of securing educational placement despite not having primary custody (weekly 4/3), albeit joint custody with a problematic, flighty, and self-serving party. Representation was not cheap, but ensuring stability in my daughters formative years and into her future is priceless. 10/10 would hire again.

Over the past two years I have been very lucky to have Sherwood Family Law helping me with my child custody case. I live 3000 miles away and had a case in which Megan Paull sucessfully represented me where I won sole custody of my daughter. Then several months later, she won my case where I sued for legal fees. She was very communicative, ever the professional, and a real shark in the courtroom. I appreciated her attention to detail and her personal investment in my case really resonated with me.
