Welcome to The Sunshine's Haven Counseling Center, a safe haven for a wide variety of concerns, issues and/or challenges. My name is Afiya K. Hooker and I am a Licensed Psychotherapist in the state of Alabama. My staff and I offer an inviting, therapeutic and confidential office that allows clients to process their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, while also gaining insight on how to effectively address presenting problems and concerns.
Through the use of various counseling techniques and methods, our clients develop life-changing habits to help them cope with any of life's challenging obstacles. Services
Afiya K. Hooker is a Licensed Psychotherapist, Professional Speaker, Mentor and Business Consultant. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Spring Hill College in 2010 and her Master of Science degree from a CACREP accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2014.
Schedule your 30 minute consultation where we will discuss your presenting concerns, while reviewing several methods to assist you in determining and/or reaching your goals. All new clients complete this 90 minute biopsychosocial assessment where we will explore all areas of your life, past to present.

Good location, safe space and Afiya is on point in her diagnosis and recommended approaches. Once you have reached your goal(s), you feel empowered to move on with or without continued therapy. If you want to continue seeing Afiya after reaching your goal, come up with another issue LOL or visit her for periodic check ins on life. I appreciate that she does not make you feel like you have to continue therapy forever, but you are welcomed to stay as long as you need/want.

I previously worked with Afiya in a mental health setting. She is a passionate and caring therapist with incredible intellect.
