Shawn is the nursery owner. His father-in-law, John helps keep the place running with his steady presence and practical knowledge. Kelly is the office administrator and also Shawn's wife. Georg is their son, and Blue River's CEO in training. Adella, Renee, Tifany and Misty help take care of all the plants in the nursery and provide the happiest most helpful customer service in the industry.

We are far from your "typical" plant place or garden center. People tell us a visit to Blue River Nursery is the next best thing to visiting a botanical garden. Whether you are landscaping your home or are a serious plant collector, we think you'll really enjoy visiting our nursery and our on line store.
When you arrive at Blue River Nursery, you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff members. We can give you a basic tour if you would like, or you can explore the place on your own. We like to be helpful, but we don't want to hover while you're here. We will check in with you occasionally during your visit to see if you need anything.
Our designers are available to come to your site for a professional consultation. You can also bring us your blueprints or a detailed sketch and photographs. Either way, we will create a plan specifically for you that incorporates your personal taste and plant preferences. Whether you choose let us do the work for you or you elect to do the do the planting of your garden yourself, each landscape project is always unique!
We create and you install. Our gardens are not limited to local customers! Send us your blueprints or a sketch with measurements and site details, and we will draw an original design unique to you. We will ship your plants to you, along with any soil amendments, fertilizer, and tree staking systems you may need.
There are many different kinds of trees. Shade trees are aesthetic as well as utilitarian, and grow to 25' and taller. Almost every house benefits from having several shade trees in the front yard. Aesthetically, tree branches help break up the angled monotony of most architecture. If trees are sited correctly they can help you save on energy expenses both with summer air conditioning and winter heating.

This is my favorite nursery to browse. I love the gardens to peruse what the specimens look like when they're mature 💚 The staff are always super helpful. Last visit, I even had a staff person helping me that was familiar with native selections and the harmfulness of invasive species (like Bradford/Callery Pear)

This nursery is several states away from where I live, yet they stocked I particular pine that I’ve been on the hunt for ever since I saw one in person when I was overseas. I’ve ordered specimens of plants from nursery’s all over the country. My experience with Blue River has far and away exceeded all previous experiences (and my previous experiences were good).
