PDX Strength rocks! This gym gives multiple options for workouts with group classes, one on one instructions and open gym times with great instructors...always making you feel comfortable and supported for whatever level you are at. Zoom options fit at home schedules too. Recently did a personal training session with the owner Jocelyn and was stoked on the customized plan to meet my lifestyle and circumstances! After moving to St. John’s not knowing anyone, I decided to give this gym a try and immediately knew I was home. Jocelyn and all the coaches do an incredible job of making this gym a fun and welcoming part of the community. I've been going to PDX Strength for almost a year now and it's been such an awesome experience. The coaches are awesome and very knowledgeable, the community is welcoming, and the workouts are always fun. The gym has a very down-to-earth, chill vibe that I really appreciate and makes it easy to jump into as a newbie. During the lockdown, Jocelyn and crew pivoted immediately to online classes to made sure we still had great workout options to do from home. PDXstrength is the best! The community is so welcoming and modifications are readily available so everyone can have an accessible and challenging workout and still be successful, no matter what their level. There’s none of the weird bro-y culture or overly competitive vibes and no talk of restrictive diet culture like in other gyms. Just a truly friendly community that supports each other to do our best (maybe with some talk of reality tv or best local restaurants thrown in). After many months of coming to PDXstrength, I finally realized why I like this gym so much after hearing the owner say "if someone is really competitive they should go to another gym, we're more about harmony". Jossy and all the coaches keep such an positive and personal mood to this community, without sacrificing any of the experience and expertise. I've been so lucky to have PDXstrength in my life over the last year! They've done such a great job keeping us motivated with online classes and interesting programming. The coaches are always ready with modifications to the workouts for our various at-home gym setups and individual needs (fitness levels, injuries etc). They even let us borrow equipment during quarantine, which really speaks for the kind of community it is. The coaching staff is amazing!!

I’ve been working out at PDXStrength for 8 months now and I absolutely love it. I attended a free class knowing that I was completely out of shape and needed to find something. Corporate gyms and personal trainers had let me down and I was ready for something different.
What I find at PDXStrength is an extremely dedicated staff that is very knowledgeable and encouraging. The coaches are always able to scale workouts to accommodate my skill level or any physical limitations so that I’m able to get an extremely intense workout without risking injury.

After a 4 year hiatus I figured it was time to get back into the gym. I wanted a different approach than my previous attempts and carefully choose where I was going to join. I have to say that PDXstrength feels like home. I was fearful, had some anxiety about going the first time and had doubts that I would like going, fit in, etc. everything you can imagine, until the first day of PDX101. I have to say Jocelyn and her crew are AMAZING! The coaches are all encouraging, help you scale exercises to your capacity but also help you push to improve, all without belittling or discouraging. I can't say enough about PDXStrength and the people who work there. Amazing gym and amazing people! I have been a member for 6 months and absolutely love my sessions! I have always been intimidated by these types of gyms and waited so long to join. The coaches and members at PDXSTRENGTH made me and my wife feel so welcome, making me wonder why I waited so long. The community feel created here is absolutely amazing and I would recommend this gym to anyone and everyone. Since I've joined 8 months ago my strength has increased dramatically and my mobility has gotten to a point where many of my nagging aches and pains are gone. The only aches and pains now are after a badass workout!

This is as far from a factory/chain gym as it gets. The coaches here clearly care about what they're doing, know what they're talking about and want to make sure everyone succeeds. The classes are small (I went during the day and never had more than four other people), so they're able to notice if your form is off and help you correct it. If you're carrying an injury or simply can't do something, they modify the workout so that you're able to do it and it's still challenging. I noticed significant improvements in my mobility and flexibility within just a month

I'm so glad I found this gym! I never feel intimidated by coming here, like I have at other gyms. The workouts are challenging, but catered to your fitness levels. Jocelyn is amazing at what she does and helps you continue working out, even if you have an injury. I really love working out in small groups and the other members are really friendly, encouraging and inspiring. I can never go to another gym again! They have a wide variety of classes, yoga, kettle bells, boot camps, strength and conditioning, olympic weightlifting and more!

Incredible gym! Different than any gym experience I've ever had, and I've been members of multiple crossfit and traditional gyms in the past. The trainers together have vast knowledge of the body and are able to combine their unique specialties and skill sets to create incredibly challenging work outs each and every day.
All workouts are hour long, instructor led group training classes that combine lifting and conditioning to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility. They pay a keen attention to detail and do not accept poor form so every day is truly challenging in the best way

Love this place! I get up every day excited to go to class. The coaches know their stuff and are amazing with helping you do what works for your body.
Prior to attending PDXstrength I had fallen into a "workout funk". I wasn't going to the gym more than 2x a week and I was definitely feeling it!
This gym helped me revive my love of fitness. I've also seen huge improvements in my self esteem and my confidence in group workouts/lifting.

Before I started attending PDXstrength I was going through a "workout funk" and gained 30lbs over the fall/winter. Working out at the gym had become boring and monotonous. A couple friends of mine recommended that I check PDXstrength out and I'm so glad I did!
The coaches are amazing and truly care about your success as an athlete. The programming is done thoughtfully and thoroughly. I never leave a class feeling like I could've done more.
The atmosphere is also wonderful, everyone that attends the classes is friendly and a lot of fun. I'm typically slower than everyone

I love PDXstrength!
I started out here as a total newbie to any sort of weight training, and I could barely run 200 meters without a rest. I've never enjoyed sports or exercising, but here I am, showing up to strength and conditioning class 2-3x a week and enjoying it. It's kind of crazy!
The classes are varied and I haven't gotten bored yet, the coaches are great at scaling workouts to your level (while still pushing you to do your best), and everyone is so nice and encouraging. I've made big improvements since I started the PDX101 classes, and I actually have fitness goals

I'd never taken work out classes before I came to PDX Strength-- I always did weightlifting on my own at a gym, on and off. I have some weightlifting experience, but over time I know my memory has faded and thus my technique has too, and I'm only ever as driven as I can convince myself to be. I didn't like to have someone hold me 'accountable' or be my workout buddy, but I'll admit I know my lifts were getting stale and I was at a plateau.
I was hesitant to come to PDX Strength because I felt I wouldn't be able to keep up with the others, thinking it was a fast

Ok, I mostly use yelp to find yummy food and cocktails, but I REALLY need to express what PDXstrength means for me...
I've been going there about 5 months now, and have found the most awesome, supportive community I've ever experienced. I've battled weight issues in the past and my usual gym experience has gone something like this:
Walk in. Stumble around gym looking at machines and weights trying to not look like a creeper. Start on one machine designed to work only one muscle group. Feel awkward with beefy dude/lady standing behind me rolling eyes at my pathetically small

How do I tell you about the awesomeness that happens at PDX Strength? Well, I've never been to a gym where I've felt more motivated, included and encouraged to do my personal best. The positive atmosphere is totally addicting! Each workout is custom so you never get bored with the classes. The bootcamps are badass and effective. Nearly every move can be modified for a beginner or made more difficult for someone with more skill; how often do you find that in the same class?

Jocelyn and I have been working together for one year officially. I am arguably in the best shape of my adult life.
Our goal for this year is for me to do a pull-up and to complete a military style fitness test as better than average for my age group. Somehow, through working with Jocelyn, this goal is within striking distance. That is a-freaking-mazing.
We have done a variety of training together. I take her boot camp classes, we occasionally train one on one, I've done group training with a friend, classes at the gym, etc. She always has something to offer that is exactly what I need
