You're not just a number at Living Word. You're part of a family. A family made up of different races and ages, different backgrounds and walks of life, but a family that shares the most important thing there is: faith in Jesus and all of God's Word. Living Word is a close-knit group of people brought together by the clear and unchanging truths of God in the Bible.
We are a collection of Christians who hear God's Word together, learn God's Word together, and live God's Word together. Our bond is close. Our connection is strong. Regardless of opinions or personal preferences, the unity we share is treasured by everyone here and a tremendous blessing that is worth the effort.

In Februrary of 1940, a group of Christians formed a congregation in Montrose, CO as members of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. They took the name St. John's Lutheran Church, bought a little white church building on Park Ave., and remained there until 2001. At that time the congregation sold the building, bought new property, moved into a temporary storefront location, and changed their named to Living Word Lutheran Church.
Matthew grew up Seward, NE before attending our pastor/teacher training college in New Ulm, MN called Martin Luther College. After four years he graduated and moved onto our post-graduate school for pastors - Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI. While there he spent his third year as a vicar (paid internship) at Christ Lutheran Church and School in Eagle River, WI as well as St. John's Lutheran Church in Phelps, WI.
For years Living Word has set the standard for Christian education and Christ-centered events in Montrose and the surrounding areas. Our preschool is certainly a big part of that mission, but we offer far more than a formal school day experience for your children. There are ongoing opportunities and annual big events that have proved to be invaluable in the Christian growth and maturity of hundreds and hundreds of children over the years.
We know how important it is to continue to grow in your faith, not only as a child but also as an adult. At Living Word there are multiple opportunities for you to continue to broaden your knowledge of the Bible and deepen your trust in your Savior. Every Friday morning from 11am-12noon Many people (even many Christians) don't believe that the book of Genesis is real history.
LWLP exists to serve families that are seeking early learning experiences for their young child in a Christian environment. Children ages 3-5 are exposed to developmentally appropriate materials and activities during our part-time preschool program, which runs from 8:00-11:30 A.M. on Mondays-Thursdays or 12:00-3:00 P.M. on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the school year.
