Great American Roofing was founded in 1982 by Steve Frady in Grapevine, Texas. Shortly after finishing college in Southern California, Steve was offered employment by a roofing contractor located in Orange County. During the next two years, he gained experience in roof installations and learned to oversee jobs in progress.
In 1981, Steve returned to North Texas to be closer to extended family. Upon returning, he began receiving calls from various contacts to install roofs. After about three months, he realized that he was in the "roofing business" and officially set up a company status. In the early years, Great American Roofing developed a good relationship with manufacturers of specialty tile and slate products.
