New Orleans Silversmiths was established in 1938 and has been family-owned and operated since. We hope you'll visit our bricks & mortar store at 600 Chartres St, one block from Jackson Square! We specialize in unusual antique silver tableware, bar ware, jewelry (estate and modern) and New Orleans gifts.

Every piece in the store is hand-selected by our owner from sources around the globe that he has developed over the last fifty years. While we regularly add pieces to this site, it is only a small sample of our large inventory of antique and contemporary offerings. If you are looking for something particular, please do not hesitate to contact us as we may have it in stock or be able to source it for you.

Corkscrews have been manufactured for hundreds of years and in literally hundreds of styles, if not more. To jump-start you on your path to 'corkscrew aficionado', here are the top 3 categories with some illustrations. We all love animals so it's no surprise that animals are the most popular corkscrew category.
Silver has been mined for over 5,000 years and was one of the first five elements discovered along with Gold, Copper, Lead and Iron. Although it often plays second fiddle to Gold, Silver is a very valuable and versatile precious metal with applications from medicine to solar cells, and lots in between.
Enameling is the ancient art of fusing powdered glass onto metal at very high temperatures. The word 'Enamel' refers to both the glass source material as well as the finished product. 1. Enamel (glass) is first crushed into a powder somewhat finer than granulated sugar and a bit coarser than flour.
Pewter is tin (85% - 95%) mixed with other metals to harden it. These other metals include antimony, copper, bismuth, zinc, sometimes silver, and in the past, lead. Generally, the larger the percentage of tin, the better the quality of pewter. Pewter has been used for thousands of years and examples from Ancient Egypt, China, and Britain can be found in museums.
We've had a whole shop filled with silver for over 50 years so we've done a lot of polishing. Here are answers to common questions and background information. 100% Silver is highly tarnish resistant but is too soft for the uses we cherish: jewelry, flatware, tableware. So long ago Sterling silver was established as the standard to achieve both the gorgeous Silver luster, but also sturdiness for daily use.

In my visit to New Orleans, I was enjoying my time in Bourbon street and decided to go inside this beautiful jewelry store. To my surprise everything there was beautiful. The women in the store were very pleasant and helpful. Anyways, I ended up buying a beautiful ring and I am so glad I did. I want to thank both of them for being so patience and helpful. I had a great experience. I will definitely go back again and buy another piece of jewelry. Thank you so much!

I found this shop years ago when I had a biz in NO and stayed in a little hotel close to them. Over 10 years they were a go to when I had friends visiting New Orleans with me as the shops in the Quarter was a great and entertaining tour.Silversmiths was always a winner and then it became a great source of gifts for my wife. We both enjoy the Zoo and now have most of the animals. Luckily at 80 I still have a few to go to cover the next holidays. Thanks for the memories!

Such elegance and detail in every piece. Love that there are so many price points. The selections are truly unique. The staff knows their stuff as well so that they can source items that are not stocked.

I was looking for a new piece of jewelry for myself and decided to stop into this shop. I'm not big on vintage jewelry, but I was pleasantly surprised at the mix of new and estate pieces they had. Prices were very reasonable and customer service was great - not pushy but helpful when asked. I bought a gorgeous ring that they sized and shipped to me at home. Highly recommended.

Most places on the Quarter are over-priced. This place has beautiful jewelry and antiques and has fair prices. Their customer service is great too. I just left a valuable ring there while trying on their rings and they held it and shipped it to me, nicely packaged. I will continue to shop here!
