The Gilman Floors team began serving the greater Hilton Head area in 2001. Doug & Annette Gilman originally started the business to offer an in-home shopping service to the local community. The business grew rapidly during the Bluffton Boom and it quickly became evident that a brick & mortar showroom was a necessary evolution.
Today, we operate out of a newly renovated showroom in Hilton Head Island, two warehouses, and a stone fabrication shop. Change & growth have always been and continue to be a driving force behind the business, helping us keep up with the changing needs of our community. I can’t say enough things about Doug Gilman and Merrill who works for Doug. I needed carpet quickly because I was moving into a new home and they came to my rescue. Doug came to measure quickly and Merrill ordered the carpet so that it would be ready several days before my move-in. The installers were also efficient and very neat and tidy. There were a few issues that needed to be corrected and they were done immediately also. The Gilman team sent Joe Rinehart, a meticulous handyman, who did some shaving of the doors for me because the carpet was so beautiful and lush. Definitely call Gilman

We used Gilman Floors to install new flooring in the Old South Restaurant in August 2019. We found the entire staff to be extremely helpful and always accessible when we had questions or concerns. Our floors look great and we would certainly use them again when other areas in the clubhouse are due to be updated.

We hired Gilman Floors to replace the carpet in two of our bedrooms. We paid to have the furniture moved and replaced. However, the beds were not properly reassembled and were wobbly and one collapsed. They also chipped a tile in the bathroom while installing the carpet and offered to replace it for us at a charge of $100 (labor only we would supply the spare tile). When we first got the estimate for the carpet we also asked for an estimate for a large $10,000 job to take place at a later date. Needless to say Gilman will not be getting that job. I never write reviews but I could not let this

Only because Zero is not an option. We hired Gilman floors to refinish our antique pine floors and it has been a disaster. We learned after the fact that Gilman outsources everything, which explains why the job started two weeks late and if anyone showed up to work after the job started it was generally only for a few hours a day. As a result the job took almost three weeks complete. I use the term complete loosely as they never cleaned up, never removed the blue tape that had inexpertly been applied to protect the other finishes, which we had to pay painters to remove, never moved our furniture

Ours was a bit of a challenging project, on a couple of levels. We own an historic home in Savannah and needed to have the stairs carpeted and the garden level carpeted. The stairs twisted and flared at the top of the cases. In fact, another carpet company had come before we went to Gilman, which we found on Angie's List. The other company measured… and then called to tell us they could not do the job because the stairs were going to be too difficult.
We live in New York and only had limited time to be in Savannah and let the Gilman salesman (Bill) know from the get-go that the timeframes
