Services
Dunsford Funeral Home started in Augusta, Kansas in 1916 by Joseph and Nettie Dunsford on Santa Fe Street. They purchased the current property at 201 East Fifth from a doctor in 1920 where the funeral home is now located, adding a chapel in 1955. Of the Dunsford's five children, Dick was the only one to follow in the family tradition, becoming owner and director of Dunsford Funeral Home.
Staff members of Dunsford Funeral Home & Crematory are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral and assistant funeral directors. Our staff desires to see your needs and final wishes met as you prepare for final arrangements.
Conveniently located one block east of the current renovation of historic downtown State Street, Dunsford Funeral Home & Crematory offers a turn-of-the-century home-like atmosphere. Visitations usually occur where the original living room was located. Often times families say "it just feels like being at home here."
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. Stephen & Karla at Dunsford Funeral Home were amazing. My father passed away on a Saturday evening. We called Dunsford and Stephen jumped into action, taking a major burden off the shoulders of my mother and myself. Throughout the next week they were great to work with, demonstrating knowledge, professionalism and most importantly, empathy. When tragedy strikes, I fully recommend Dunsford Funeral Home.

Stephen was amazing at helping me in my family's time of need. We had no idea what to do first. Stephen walked us through it step by step. He made a very difficult time much easier on me and the family. I can not say enough about this funeral home. Stephen went above and beyond for us. We had a lot going on with this funeral with details and Stephen and his staff were on top of everything. My late Grandfather looked amazing. That was my first thought was how amazing he looked and that was all thanks to Stephen. Professionalism - Top Notch.
