I believe everybody is photogenic. If you don't have many pictures of yourself that you like it doesn't mean you are not photogenic, it means you haven't been photographed properly. Marayam is such a gift to the Iowa City community! The quality of her photos are on par with top professionals in Chicago, NYC, and LA. Having a photo session with Maryam Thompson Photography was such a fantastic experience! To do this session was a pretty tough decision for me. I love photography, but really only from the back side of the camera, I am completely out of my element in front of it!

An amazing portrait photographer needs to have an eye for who someone is, the skill to give vocal directions and adjustments to allow subjects to effortlessly flow, the practice to create environments in which someone can come to life, and the patience to digitally finish a moment in ways that meet the demands of internet businesses. I was thrilled to have experienced her caring artistry. She was an expert guide throughout the process, found the best shots and let me select my favorites, and returned them to me within two days. Getting new professional photos at Maryam Thompson Photography was a fantastic experience. Maryam begins with a pre-photo shoot consultation: a 30-45 minute meeting to plan the type of photos, where she will provide guidance on clothing, hair and makeup. During this consultation she is astutely assessing your photographic strengths and planning the positions that will be complementary. The day of the "shoot" was so much fun.
