The word carat derives from the word carob, a Mediterranean seed, which has an extremely consistent weight for measuring. The greater the carat weight, the rarer, and more valuable the diamond becomes.
Some people want to buy the biggest diamond possible. Is this always the right choice? The larger the diamond, chances are the more inclusions it likely has, and because it's larger, these inclusions are typically even more visible than on a smaller diamond. But most importantly, if the diamond cut isn't proportioned correctly, it won't return the maximum amount of light through the top of the diamond.

Do NOT buy here unless you want to get completely ripped off!! Daniel is nothing less than a SCAM artist. My husband was referred to him by a mutual acquaintance because he was looking for a surprise 10-year anniversary ring for me. Daniel completely took advantage of him and sold him a 5 Ct diamond that was clarity enhanced and didn't disclose this honestly. (It would be the equivalent of a selling a car with a salvaged title and not telling someone.) My husband had no idea what he was doing and unfortunately trusted him because he was referred by a friend who didn't know Daniel professionally

I had a very specific design request. Daniel was able to find me high quality tanzanite in New York and make me a custom ring at a reasonable price (took about 3 weeks).
The quality of craftsmanship is very high which is extremely important with tanzanite. The stone is soft, so any movement can cause inclusions. I’m happy.

I researched diamonds online and Daniel and crew were able to locate where the diamond was and offer a discount from any of the online websites. I researched sites such as ritani, James Allen, b2c, etc. Daniel was able to locate the diamond via GIA number, bring to Hawaii, and mount locally. He offered a discount no online diamond store could offer. Plus I was able to match the laser GIA inscription with it's paperwork for security. We came in by chance looking for a replacement diamond to one I had that was lost by the USPS when it needed repairs. I was never good with the mode of travel the diamond was to take. Sure enough, it was lost (HA!) having never left Baltimore. It was insured, but it was a beautiful, unique piece I bought at Milano Jewelers in St. Maarten. Each time we took a cruise, I kept trying to replace it with not a lot of luck. Last cruise, we just sort of gave up.
