I choose this restaurant because it serves coffee with breakfast. You just don't see that any more. I took it as a good sign. We were not disappointed at all. Food was good. Good selection and the staff were all very friendly. Definitely will be back next time I'm in Ottawa. Maybe try lunch or dinner next time.

Very good food and the staff are super friendly. I had stuffed pepper soup which was the best I’ve ever had. The hot turkey plate was also very good. A bit salty on the gravy but besides that it was like a great home cooked meal. This was my first time but I will definitely be back, can’t wait to try their breakfast.

Kind of rough around the edges when you pull up to the parking lot, don't be discouraged by the exterior. The interior is very warm and inviting, your typical small town diner. Sat at the bar since I was by myself and in a rush. Very friendly waitress came up to me and immediately took my order and got me a hot cup of coffee. Food came out in about 10 minutes which was great since I wanted a quick breakfast before court. Ordered the veggie omelet with cheese and side of bacon- by far the best breakfast in downtown Ottawa! Will definitely be coming back here before I go to court!

I understand the breakfast here is good but I have not been in for that.
I will say they have very good tenderloins but for the most part this place is just your typical dinner type food. There is nothing special or overly negative about this place. It just is what it is, a decent place with decent food.

A great family restaurant. Good variety in menu, reasonably fast service and priced moderately. Wait staff does change a bit often for my tastes, but the owners actually work the restaurant in the kitchen and hosting. The parking is somewhat crowded during peak hours so you may have to drop your party off at the door and drive a bit to find a spot. Take notice of the framed art on the walls drawn by local school kids. A very community-oriented restaurant. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Descent food. Good prices. Used to come here quite a bit. But over the years the service has gone way down hill. After today visit. They lost my patronage. My party of 2 waited almost 10 minutes for water. Almost 20 mins for our food and it was cold! Waitress seems like she hates her job. Very snerky n rude. Overheard her talking Bout ur negatively waiting for our food to the cook .

This place is a great local diner where things never change. Open for breakfast and lunch, New Chalet has a menu of fare consistent with most traditional diners: eggs and pancakes, sandwiches and fries, soups and iceberg-lettuce salads.
We visit this family restaurant often, as it's the only one in south Ottawa. We love sitting at the bar to see all the busy hubbub of the staff - charming, to say the least!
Order one of their breakfast skillets with crispy home fries - the eggs are always cooked to perfection and the home fries are great!

Very friendly service. Fried chicken was very good, both my wife and I liked it. Chicken soup was tasty and homemade. Prices are very reasonable. Was not a fan if the Mac n' cheese. But on the other side of the coin the fries and mashed potatoes were good. If you are getting the chicken get the platter.

Best restaurant on the south side of Ottawa. So affordable and delicious. It's my breakfast spot and my soup & salad spot. Packed after church on Sundays. Biscuits & gravy sell out fast. Great family place, after work place, couples, everybody! The service is fast & friendly. They always have daily specials, and the food is really delicious. I'm glad Ottawa has a neat gem on the south side.
