At Brighter Smiles Dental, Dr. Sylvia Irwin and her staff are devoted to providing high quality, personalized dental care to their patients. Our dental practice is committed to providing conservative, preventive dental care for both adults and children, as well as providing all phases of restorative and cosmetic dental treatment.
Brighter Smiles Dental and Dr. Sylvia Irwin provide a wide variety of services to patients in calm, relaxing environment. These services range from routine dental examinations and cleanings to more complex cosmetic dentistry services. Each patient is treated with an individualized care plan that is designed to help them achieve better oral health.
Dr. Irwin received her BA from Douglass College where she was a Phi Beta Kappa honors graduate. In 1980 she graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University Dental School and then went on to complete a General Practice Residency at the University Hospital of UMDNJ. Dr. Irwin came to Nutley in the fall of 1981, taking over an existing dental practice on High Street.
Dianne was educated in Kearny, NJ where she also received her initial training as a dental assistant. She continued her education at Bergen Community College and UMDNJ, becoming a Registered and Certified Dental Assistant with expanded functions. Dianne has been working alongside Dr. Irwin since 1981.

My husband and myself are patients of Dr. Sylvia Irwin for many years, and we are always very satisfied with her services.
Dr. Irwin always takes the time to explain any dental problem, and what she plans to do about it. She always answers all questions that we have concerning her treatment.
She shows the problem on the X-rays, so it is easy for us to understand.
We feel confident that she has a lot of experience and knowledge as a dentist, and we feel that we get the best possible treatment.

Dr Irwin is the best dentist I have every been to, I had a 4:30 appointment after about 3 minutes of filling out information on myself as a new client I was then asked to go sit in the dental chair, with in seconded Dr Irwin and the dental assistant came in to the room to talking to me on what the problem was. she told me to lay back open my mouth so I closed my eyes and just listen to the great music that was playing in the office to clam myself down, she started to do her work and explained to me what it was that she was doing. before I know it I was all done and out of there in less then 20

Yesterday was my first time at Brighter Smiles Dental and I LOVED it! I felt comfortable and everyone was so nice. I recommend you all see Dr. Irwin. She is very informative and gives you options and explains everything. My cleaning was great and did not hurt a bit. I've seen many dentists in my lifetime and by far Dr. Irwin and her staff are the best!

As a first time patient of Dr. Sylvia Irwin, I cannot sing her praises enough. She was caring, no-nonsense and compassionate. My experience with Dr. Irwin changed my view of dentists forever.

What can be said that hasn't already been said about the great service that Dr. Irwin provides? Everything about my experience going to her has been nothing but exceptional and that is high praise for a person who has never liked dentists. She will not berate you for not following through regarding dental hygiene and only will help you understand why you need to improve on it. Dr. Irwin is kind, respectful, and most importantly a great dentist; all three characteristics that one needs in a dentist.
