I grew up in the Ozarks, the youngest of five children, where my father owned and operated a Western Auto store and my mother taught school. Both possessed strong core values of honesty, integrity, community service and hard work. These instilled values were instrumental when I established my accounting firm in 1984.
I was the first Certified Public Accountant in Gainesville, Missouri. Back then few people knew what a CPA was, and those who did had already engaged one. I worked out a deal with my father so that I could manage his store and provide public accounting services. My business grew, and I attribute some of my success to those values I witnessed my parents practice and pass on to me.
