Some things are just no brainers, like knowing you can always find a lot of organic food at our local country market! Two little words about to cause a huge headache for me, printed at the bottom of the receipt she'd just handed me. She frowned sympathetically. We've been dishing about for three years now and it's clear that we live in the best place around.
So we thought we'd share some why we love it here right now. Welcome to our second annual, showing you, once again, that there's never a shortage of things to do, see and buy around. Prepared foods are big, big business. Freshly made soups, casseroles, and grilled meats, cooked up by a gourmet shop or supermarket deli, accounted for more than $32 billion in food sales last year, according to a recent survey by market specialist Packaged Facts.

LaRocca's Country Market is the new name to a very old location dating back to the early 1920's. It is an institution that has provided food in North Stamford to thousands of people over the course of 85 years. It is an Icon that has and will always be here to remind us that Country Markets do exist.
If you haven't tried one of prepared foods for a meal in our store lately, you're in for treat. If you have, then you know what we're talking about. LaRocca's fresh prepared food is all handmade and made fresh daily.
If our variety alone from prepared meals from salmon, sushi, pasta, chicken doesn't make you take out your napkin and tuck in, here's the clincher: all of the ingredients are natural or organic and as many as possible are locally grown from the Connecticut area. That means no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives or heart-clogging trans fats.

From bulk foods that give you the benefit of buying whatever quantity you want with minimal effort to value-priced everyday grocery items you can't find anywhere else, our shelves have you covered. And, of course, we carry your favorite local foods too - all high quality products meeting our strict quality standards to be shelved on our country market.
To bring you the best, LaRocca's Country Market started making their own coffee back in 1969. We have a commitment to transparent sustainable sourcing and ethical trade was a natural fit to our core values as a family market. While we also feature other local coffees in our store, we are proud to offer a wide selection of bulk and packaged beans from our own LaRocca's Coffee Brand.
So, you think we're all about being a country market selling food? Well, don't take this wrong, but what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body, yup we said it. This department is where you find supplements and personal care - with our high standards, naturally. With the whole body experience, it's all about quality and safety with a strong emphasis on natural.

I'd like to think I know good food. Firstly, I love eating. Second, I do not eat fast food. I literally haven't had McD's in over 20 years. Third, I'm Italian. We cook. We share. We published a cookbook with generations of recipes from our family and town in Italy. All that said, LaRocca's is a home away from home!! They have incredible dishes, delicious sandwiches, and good eats presented in a pristine showcase. It may be a bit out of the way for some but it is totally worth driving up through the ridges!! Do it... do it... just do it!

Love that this spot is so close to me in North Stamford. The staff is amazing whether it be the deli counter or the checkout line.
I so appreciate the measures they have taken to maintain a safe environment during this Covid crisis. You can tell they really care about the customer. Today I witnessed a disgruntled customer at checkout- she had asked that her small transaction be split in two and threw a small fit realizing that some of her items were bagged together when she wanted them separate (we’re talking 3 plastic bags worth of goods) and the two women at checkout handled the situation

I have been a customer for years. Overall experiences with staff and food had been very positive. Unfortunately, food quality (prepared and fruits and vegetables) recently seems to have declined and price point for almost any item is 25-50% higher then a traditional grocery chain. Before, I didn't mind spending extra because the food and produce were very high quality, that is no longer the case. Most likely the addition of the wine store has taken away from grocery quality. Hopefully things can improve.

As a frequent neighborhood customer I have been happy with this store for a very long time. However, today my experience and impression of La Rocca was somewhat different. When coming across some bagels and pastries just before closing, I was watching two staff members throw away today's leftover inventory and approached them and offered to either take or purchase the remaining bagels, whichever was acceptable by management. The two lovely staff members called over one of the (presumed) owners who looked me straight in the eye and told me they were not for sale because the pastries were going

Looooove this place! Looking for a good quality market? Look no further, LaRocca's offers the best of sandwiches, hot meals and baked goods. It is a great stop for local people who are in need of a quick purchase. The market has excellent quality of food matched with a friendly staff, the only drawback is the price, but it it reflects the area it is located.

Great local spot to get some groceries. Quality is good and people are friendly and helpful. They recently expanded to include booze next door. I have yet to go but I hear it's great and fills a needed gap in the area.
Good butchers.
Some prepared meals and soups. Pretty good stuff.
Some seasonal items like firewood as well.
If you life around here, odds are you know them and been yourself.

Details make a difference. This was great experience from the phone, to the store to the party. I called them to cater a few platters for a party I was having. "Talk about over delivering"!!! You would of thought Martha Stewart was working there. Thanks to everyone at the store for your hard-work and efforts.

This is an adorable market that is conveniently located near my home. It is quite over priced on everything except for their deli sandwiches. These sandwiches are handmade and heaping with meat!! All the other goods are yummy, great variety of healthy and delicious, the butcher's meats are incredible high quality. Given it's the only market in north stamford, I don't mind the place being overpriced because you're paying for convenience. I would be lost without LaRoccas!

Purchased a bunch of USDA-certified prime Angus steaks here today. Cooked a couple New York strips on the cast iron skillet tonight, and they were amazing. My brother got the old long ridge sandwich from the deli and says it's the best sandwich he's ever had in his whole entire life. Very friendly owner working behind the register. They also give you reusable store-branded insulated bags instead of plastic or paper, which is a very nice touch. I'm selective about my butcher, and I'll definitely be coming back here for some more steaks. I also got 2 pounds of the ground Chuck steak, but I haven

High prices.....But... Everything I've ever gotten from here has been delicious. A great variety of options for lunch. The curry chicken salad is always a pleaser. Stopped in here for lunch with a coworker the other day and I got a wrap that was reasonably priced. My coworker got a eggplant stack and some other item and the deli graciously heated up for her to take with us.

Small town charm + an awesome grocery store. Most people first come here because it's convenient. If you're in North Stamford they are pretty much the only game in town. So if you find yourself in need of something last minute...Mlik, eggs, ice you make your way in. They're prepared foods and deli counter are amazing. I've never been disappointed. Was shocked that I was able to find some specialty items (deli sliced pancetta) and fresh made sushi. We live in North Stamford and we're happy to pay an extra dollar for this or that for the privilege and the pleasure of shopping

Great food but ridiculously high prices. A couple of weeks ago a bought 2 of their prepared sandwiches except I asked for one without tomato. It was $8.95 for the sandwich with tomato and $9.95 for the one without. Seriously?? They charged me $1 just to take off the tomato??? I've been there many times prior to this visit, but that will be the last time I go there!

This awesome little grocery is my go to place for lunch sandwiches and fresh meats. Recently the caterpillar that was Giovanni's morphed into the awesome butter fly that is Laroccas, it is a little pricey for full pantry shopping but they make up for it with a country feel great deli (try the panini or the bow tie BLT salad)
The prenade meals are amazing and easy to prepare!
The staff is close knit and happy to serve!

Like I said in my other review-
It's a nice neighborhood market that carries a little bit of everything. Everyone here is very friendly.., the market is very clean and all employees seem to have worked here forever...
2 negatives my family complaints about it.
-price, but hey it's 5 blocks away and it's not like anyone can do their big weekly shop here anyways...
-not carrying all organic meat! And still charging more than my all organic butcher from Westport, CT.
I think that with this north Stamford location, where most
