About Us Report

Over 65 years ago, Bud O'Boyle established Irishman's Shanty as a Southside Crookston bar in Minnesota. In the decades that have passed since, visiting The Shanty has become an old pastime of locals and a must for newcomers. We've grown a great deal since our humble beginnings -- having added a liquor store, family restaurant, and banquet hall.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too. They have the most fancy building I’ve ever seen and the food is also pretty good. They have a bar and they also have party rooms. They also have a buffet. 999999999999999999999999999/10

My husband's food was good n warm my chicken was cold when I got to the middle of it potato tasted like it was reheat from nite B 4. But Melissa the bartender was beyond wonderful great personality

Don't bother eating here. Under cooked food, walleye was still frozen. All you could hear was the cooks arguing in the kitchen. Poor service

Overall a nice place but we got the ribs and they were pretty underwhelming. The were gray and looked like they had either been frozen or in a slow cooker for way too long. They were absolutely smothered in bbq sauce which probably helped the flavor but it could have been any meat in there by that point. The burgers looked good though so maybe just stick with those.

I picked this place on solely being a Irish pub. No Irish food or drink. I came in the bar side and was quickly greeted by the bartender. Friendly smile and made me feel at home. I ordered the special. 1/2 rack , potato, and salad bar!!! Price was right. Food was AMAZING. More the enough for even my large appetite. I was just traveling through and I'm glad I did. I'd definitely stop here again!!!!

Last Thursday I made a 30 minute trip to the Irishman's Shanty in Crooksto and Chef Daniel did not disappoint! I had a perfectly cooked medium rare Sirloin and french fries, it was just that perfectly cooked! There was no need to season my steak or use any sauce as it was tender, juicy, and full of flavor! I was hoping to try the Baked Macaroni… and Cheese with Beer Cheese and Bourban glazed Chicken special but sadly it had sold out. It must have been quite tasty as I heard another table say "this is some dam good Mac and cheese!" I will most definitely be back to try specials from Chef

Don't eat here. They gave my daughter moldy grapes, which were also moldy in the salad bar. Looked like bug feces in the salt on the table. My baked potato looked a few months old. After complaining we got a full bill still so I left full payment exact change on the table and left.

Rib night every Monday! Half rack of ribs, choice of potato (or wild rice), and soup and salad bar for $10. I had a 4 oz sirloin with the same sides for $12. It was so good it didn't need any sauce or seasoning from me. The waitress was very friendly and the food was served quickly. This place has had the same owner for 35 years and he still is in the kitchen helping out whenever he can. You know they're doing something right.

Excellent food!!!! Walleye bites and fries were my choice today! Very generous portions!! My friend had a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings that looked and tasted delicious!!! We will be back!!!

Stopped at this place while traveling. Poor planing. I ordered the ribeye. Poor cut of meat to begin with and I ordered it medium rare. Came rare. Velvet had the salmon. Just OK. Wine price was good. Next time drive on by.

This place has been around forever and is a staple in the crookston area.... the food is awesome and service is great!! It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is clean and comfortable.... highly recommended

Went in for breakfast at lunch time. Very nice friendly people. If you walk in and want to turn around, don't you will be sorry you did... go in and enjoy the good food friendly local people. Thank you for the wonderful atmosphere.

All around good local fun. Food is classic American cuisine. Beer is cheap. I highly recommend this place if you want to see what Crookston is all about.
