Ed Spencer, jewelry designer and owner of Skylight Jewelers, has been creating custom jewelry in Boston for over 40 years. His original shop featured a skylight which was the inspiration for the business name. That shop was located on the top floor of the jewelers building, just around the corner from where the store is today.
Although the store no longer has a view of the stars, if you look up from inside the showroom you might catch a glimpse of our jewelers working in the loft upstairs. Spencer's custom jewelry designs reflect his belief that jewelry is a personal statement about its wearer. The inspiration for a piece might comes from his dreams, or day-to-day reality.

Services
Spencer has been creating custom jewelry since 1972 when he graduated from Boston University with a degree in Comparative Religions. In 1974 he moved his shop out of his living room where he would meet with customers and founded Skylight Jewelers in the center of downtown Boston. This first shop was located on the top floor of the Jewelers Building, and the skylight that illuminated the workspace also inspired the name for the company.
Our hours and days may be erratic. For private viewing and custom design jewelry consultations please call for an appointment. We'll all be wearing masks. Skylight Jewelers specializes in custom engagement rings and wedding bands. We create each piece of jewelry by hand using ancient and modern techniques. That means any piece of jewelry you see can be customized to suite your taste. From hand carved wax models and lost wax casting, to CAD/CAM and 3D printing, we use a variety of techniques to custom design and create the perfect unique engagement ring for you.

10/10 would highly recommend! I am from PA and I was searching locally, to no avail, to find the perfect engagement ring for my fiancé. After getting ridiculously high quotes for mediocre products at the big chains, I turned to the internet where I saw an image of the ring I’d been searching for! That image was on Skylight Jewelers website, and after speaking with Ed Spencer, he hooked me up in a big way! An all around honest and good guy, Spencer helped me from over 300 miles away. The ring was PERFECT and she cannot stop looking at it. Thank you Spencer so much for everything!!

My fiancé and I had a wonderful experience with Spencer at skylight jewelers! His expertise and talent for custom jewelry is amazing. We are from out of town and he worked with us to create our wedding bands. The whole experience was flawless and he explained everything to us along the way. I was looking to create a unique ring for our commitment ceremony. I had several small diamonds from other pieces that I wanted to use, and I had an initial concept. Over a period of several months, I worked with Spencer to create my perfect ring. We communicated in person, on the phone and via email to get something started in wax and then I went down there again to see the wax. That started another process of sitting with Spencer while we worked with the wax to get it just the way I wanted.
