New York Cafe
Nestled in a well-loved historic downtown Ketchikan hotel, the New York Cafe offers a thoughtful selection of food, beer, wine, coffee and baked goods. Our neighborhood kitchen serves fresh, local seafood and American and Mediterranean cuisine with vegetarian options. We work hard to source our food locally, as much as possible.

Stop by anytime for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, coffee, a glass of wine, a flight of beers or a light snack. Extra-large & tender drop biscuits, creamy scratch-made sausage gravy & 2 eggs cooked to your taste. 3 eggs steam-poached on a bed of tender young arugula, completed with sage butter & a dab of yogurt sauce.

Judging by the fact that you get charge a service fee of almost 10 euros... and that the prices are about 3 to 4 times the ones you can find in other places in Budapest, the service should have been way better. The service was actually not that good I would not recommend this place, for anything more than just a few photos.
The place is very pretty on the inside, it would have been nice that the service and taste of the food matched the interior...
There is sometimes life music, either piano or a group of musicians, which is quite nice.
You can also order coffe or hot chocolate with 24k gold

Beautiful place, a palace really, live music, piano, violin, cello, great performers. We took the 24 carat gold hot chocolate, it was truly a nice experience, however it's a little heavy for the stomach. Overall great experience

This is definitely the place to go if you're looking for a classy restaurant. The interior is absolutely gorgeous, and the food is of course very good. They also have someone regularly playing piano or violin so you're sure to dine in an exquisite atmosfere.

A beautiful location with wonderful music and delicious menu. The only spoiler is the rude lady bringing guests to their tables. We visited the cafe on January 2nd 2021 and asked to be seated in the part of the cafe with the music. The lady said no because the free tables in that part were for 4 people and we were 2. So we suggested that we wait until a table for 2 will be free. She literally said “NO. Either sit in the back or leave. What is it now - yes or no.” After initial chock we asked a couple behind us if they would like to share a table for 4 in the main part of the cafe which they

As one of the most famous café in Budapest, it really disappointed me. Honestly, the decorations and the restaurant ambiance is very nice, but the staff’s attitude was awful. Besides, the cleanliness made me uncomfortable, we came here to celebrate my birthday, the lemonade cup was sticky like it hasn’t been washed well, the toilet smell was quite weird, and they don’t allow us to take our birthday cake inside. At the beginning of our dinner, we asked one staff to take our photo, and in that photo series none of them was normal looking. Only recommend for photo taking and dessert!

Lovely cafe with impeccable (Christmas) decoration. Beyond that, the quality of both service and goods is highly debatable. I found the service relatively slow and the seating arrangement quite “packed.”
As for the prices, that was quite a big disappointment. We were planning to get some pastry to “experience the whole concept’ but when I saw the prices on the menu, I admit that I was about to pick my stuff and run through the back door. The cappuccino was good but definitely not the best coffee I have had (especially for one that costs approximately 8€).
I understand that the maintenance

Not a good experience for me. The restaurant is fancy decorated, which make it look like a good place to eat. But the food there is not good and expensive. Many small local restaurants in Budapest serve much better food. Of course, if you don't care about the food, and just wanna take some fancy photos to post in your social media, then it is a good option.

Impressive place. Live piano music. We arrived in the afternoon in a rainy day but did not want to stand in line, so we came again next morning and there was no queue at the entrance. The coffee was ordinary but the atmosphere was memorable

Stunning place. The experience of taking a tea here goes behind any imagination. We were there on boxing day and the had live music with 4 musicians it was magical. The reason however I've given 4 stars is because when it comes to food (we have gone for an afternoon tea), it's not as luxurious as the place.

Excellent little cafe with beautiful windows looking out on the harbor in Ketchikan. The food has always been delicious and the service is fast and friendly - I appreciate that prices are reasonable and the coffee is kept flowing. Definitely a great spot to add to your breakfast to-do list when in town. If you're arriving by cruise ship, it's about a 10 minute easy walk once you disembark.

Not much of a breakfast or lunch menu. The food is primarily middle eastern, the people are nice, it's a rustic atmosphere, plain but comfortable. There really wasn't much on the menu for me so I had a bagel and coffee.
I was there years ago for dinner and remember that it was good, but no particulars. It's reachable by walking in downtown. No opinion as to recommending or not recommending.

I was hesitant going to a place called New York in Alaska, but was pleasantly surprised.

Small and quite, great for actually having a conversation with the people you are eating with.

I was there for an earlier dinner so I just ordered the halibut fish and chip. The batter was a bit on the thick side for my liking but I did clean my plate so I'm being a bit snobbish.

Cold beer , go fries, clean, with a fairly decent menu. I recommend it.

We stopped in for brunch on a Sunday while in Ketchikan. I was hoping to get a salad, but we were told they were only serving the brunch menu (might be good to rethink as several others asked for the lunch menu while we were there). The restaurant was very busy, and we waited about 5 min for a table.

I opted for avocado toast, which was served with brunch potatoes but I requested a sub for any veggies. I was offered some pan fried greens as a substitute. Hubs ordered eggs and arugula.

Both of our meals came out pretty quick. My avocado toast had a good amount of avocado piled on 3 slices

We had bouillabaisse for lunch and we're bowled over by the spices and fish. We decided to try dinner there. The scallops were super fresh, perfectly browned and a very good sized portion. The rice had a middle eastern flavor and was a treat. For dessert the baklava was flakey and tasty. Can't get over how good the dishes were and the place stands up to any big city and needn't just be compared to Ketchikan.

This place is fantastic. New York meets Ketchikan! Cool vibes and excellent food. Came in on a cruise ship and wanted a good local breakfast. This place didn't disappoint! Check out the menu! Salmon and eggs scramble was great. Where else but AK can you get smoked salmon scrambled with eggs.

Vegan options! Probably the only place in Ketchikan to label their menu which was much appreciated. Brunch/breakfast was great as was the seaweed hot sauce they carry. I got the falafel for dinner one night to go and that was not great. Not authentic and not worth walking to get it, but appreciated that the person taking my pick up order could give me all the vegan options. Would recommend despite the falafel disappointment.

Coming from a person who was born and raised in this cute rainy town (and a former NYC employee) I find that two stars is JUST but I'll give three cause I'm nice

First off. What happened to customer service? I don't know if it's cause I went at the end of the summer season but yals waitresses were horrible. No communication what so ever. We had to ask a different waitress for our check and she was just as horrible (if not worse) I asked kindly for the check and she didn't even acknowledge my existence. Literally just rolled her eyes and walked away

Also!

They got

We had walked past New York Café at least twice before stopping in for lunch. I was a little skeptical of the name but once we saw that they had lavender cheesecake on the menu, we were sold. The place has a home grown vibe with the T-shirts for sale on the wall and the event posters plastered all over. They offer a variety of espresso drinks as well as a very expensive matcha latte that I opted not to get. The main reason we were in was for the salmon fish & chips, some local Alaskan beers, and the lavender cheesecake. Of which, we got all of the above. My friend Mari and I shared the salmon

We weren't sure what to expect with a "New York" cafe in Ketchikan, but while the food was certainly Alaskan, it was very good!
The ladies loved their salads and seafood chowder, saying it was the best chowder they've tried in Alaska, and the salmon fish and chips was excellent (but too many fries).
Molly was a great server who answered questions, dealt with substitutions, took extra care to ensure the chowder was just as the ladies wanted, refilled drinks on time and deserved her 20% tip.
With all restaurants available for tourists, we picked a good one!

Fairly packed on a late Tuesday morning. Decent coffee, and an even better mocha. Creamy and chocolate-y, not too sweet. We weren't super hungry, and their food portions looked very generous, but ended up trying the seafood chowder. Very delicious, but not enough seafood! Service was excellent and accommodating.
