Services
In 1891, Henry Ward Beecher Hunter began a business in White County to serve the needs of grieving friends and neighbors. H.B., along with Fate Quarles, started a dry goods store that sold funeral merchandise. In those days, families did their own funerals. The store, located in what is now known as Jongee's Gifts & Fine Furnishings, provided materials to make a casket.
The building located at 120 East Bockman Way is much more than a business; it is a home. It was built in 1900 as a private residence for the J.T. Anderson family. It has been the home of Hunter Funeral Home since Braxton Hunter purchased it in 1940. The family and staff of Hunter Funeral Home welcome you into this home during your time of need.
We are thrilled to partner with Vital ICE, an award-winning In Case of Emergency App that can help save lives. Vital ICE is a public safety app that helps users list their vital health information, emergency contacts, medical information and more. EMS and other first responders can access this App in emergencies.
Cremation is a difficult and sensitive subject, but we're here to assist you in any way we can. Hunter Funeral Home is a founding partner of Cumberland Family Services, our cremation company that we established over ten years ago. Whether you choose traditional burial or cremation, your loved one never leaves our care.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
