Altruist Salon and Boutique, formerly Cowgirls Salon, a hairdresser in Montana, was founded in Missoula, Montana, in 2009. About six months after it was formed, the business was purchased by Andi Hardy, who was looking for a place to spread her wings and create the salon of her dreams where her clients and her employees enjoyed a natural balance of happiness, fun and care for one another.
We have stylists that specialize in different types of hair as well as different cuts and techniques. We also have stylists who work at different price points based on their experience. Please don't hesitate to call us to talk about which of our stylists would be perfect for your needs. All of our stylists operate on a level system that take their experience and their standing in our associates program into account.
As a locally-owned small business that deeply believes in giving to those in need, we make charitable donations and community involvement a top priority. This amazing local organization is dedicated to making certain that all people in Missoula are free from domestic violence and have a safe, comfortable housing.

To accommodate everyone's needs, we are open early six days a week and offer evening appointments on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I am in tears having to write this because I feel so bad, but I also do not feel right about not saying something to anyone who is picky and is considering trying a new salon. I called this salon last week and specifically requested the most experienced hair stylist and colorist. All of them were booked. I told the girl on the phone that I was really picky and sensitive with my hair and just wanted to see someone who was experienced and knew what they were doing. I was recommended to someone and trusted them based on the info I gave them. Mind you, I was only coming in for a very simple hair cut

Stephanie is the most amazing hairstylist I have met. She listens to every want and need of mine and I never leave disappointed. I even came in look a new hair cut and she made sure to perfect it as she asked if there was anything I wanted to do more about it. Receptionist had no idea what she was doing. She lost my appointment. Couldn't find my information. I had to send in a picture for the stylist and was not given the information of where to send it to. Now I am scrambling to find a stylist who is available asap. Don't let the receptionist screw up your events too.
To clarify to the response for Altruist Salon, there couldn't be a misunderstood policy if a policy was never stated. I was not told that a credit card was needed for the appointment to be held.

I had a fantastic experience at this salon. Liv was great. She really listened to me and studied my hair before beginning to cut, and then checked in with me as she was cutting. I asked her to give me bangs (which I hadn’t had in about 10 years) and she cut them gradually until we were both really happy with how they looked. I loved the whole cut, which was totally new since I hadn’t had a haircut in 18 months. The cut has grown out really well, and I have received so many compliments. Liv was friendly and personable. Looking forward to going back!

My first experience with Altruist Salon was amazing! I relocated to Missoula last August and was very nervous about finding the perfect salon and stylist. I have now found my happy place for hair. I was referred to this salon and after looking up Altruist Salon and reading the reviews, I was sold. I highly recommend Stephanie. Summer Frazier cut my hair yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I am very much a no-frills person -- I've never dyed my hair or had particularly unique or high maintenance cuts -- but sometimes that makes getting a simple cut awkward b/c I don't want to sound rude or ungrateful if I don't take up stylists on their great ideas for my hair. Emma Price at Altruist salon is simply amazing. She is so talented while also being incredibly professional. I came in with damaged blonde hair that would not seem to grow and she has worked with me to heal my hair while also allowing it to stay blonde. She knows her stuff! I dont know how else to put this and I apologize for hurting any feelings, but I feel people reading reviews should know. I had to come in for a touch up for several bleach lines that were left at the top of my foil I suppose from my highlight session. They got me in for a touch up, and now I keep coming across SEVERAL highlight strands where only the top portion was highlighted and the bottom half is brown. Its difficult to capture in a photo, but now that I've seen it in real life I can't unsee it. Maybe you can get idea in the mirror pic. On some its like an oreo: blonde, then brown, and blonde
