Services
Staff members of Overton Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. A native of Clear Lake, Iowa, Jeff attended North Iowa Area Community College prior to graduating from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1988.
This option includes our Basic services of the funeral director and staff; Embalming; Other preparation of remains; Use of facilities, equipment and staff for visitation; Use of facilities and equipment for funeral ceremony; Transfer of remains to our facilities; Use of funeral coach for transportation to place of disposition; Family van; Lead vehicle, pallbearers/flowers/deliver notices.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.

Jeff was so helpful at a time when we were operating on auto-pilot. He took what we knew of Dad's wishes and helped us fill in the rest--from the beautiful casket we chose to the delicious Funaro's cookies at the visitation. By the time we left that initial planning meeting, Jeff had set everything in motion to help us honor Dad's wishes.

Our experience with Overton was due to my Mother's passing. They treated us with compassion and my Mother's remains with dignity. The experience for Overton was new, as they had never completed a Serbian Orthodox funeral and their understanding of the funeral process was very appreciated at a time when emotions play a huge role in life. Thank you to Overton and especially Alex as he handled my Mother's remains with tremendous respect in getting her put to rest as we wished.

I can't imagine a better experience than what we have had with Jeff & Mary Peterson and the staff at Overton Funeral Home. They helped us with every detail, from pre-planning, to a beautiful video tribute to last minute special touches for the graveside service. All along the way, Jeff has been warm and caring as well as extremely professional. Extremely thankful they are here to serve our community.

Overton Funeral Home hosted a beautiful remembrance service for my husband who passed away. It really helped me cope with the loss during the holidays and I greatly appreciated the opportunity they gave me to really and truly remember him and our memories together.
