In 1878, William Gogan Kentzel began his years as proprietor and editor of The St. Tammany Farmer. His son, William Henry Kentzel, founded the printing business of W. H. Kentzel & Son in 1883. William Henry served on the Town Council as President of St. Tammany Parish Fair Association. His wife, Carmelite Padin, served as the first president of the Covington Business and Professional Women's Club.
