Caring and non-judgmental, Kim Studebaker Du is sincerely interested in helping people overcome challenges in their lives, even when it seems impossible. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Music Therapist, Kim has the skill and experience to help many different people.

In addition to her straightforward and supportive approach, she is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR, both evidence-based approaches in addressing trauma.She is also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based method for addressing Borderline Personality Disorder and addictions.
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals in psychotherapy by a credentialed professional. Music Therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals.
Mindfulness is the nonjudgmental self-awareness of thoughts, feelings, and behavior choices. When we get stressed, we are wired to react with fight, flight, or freeze responses. Mindfulness practice teaches us how to respond to stressful events in a different way, gently releasing ourselves from automatic reactions, and accessing a sense of calm and control even during difficult times.
Let's face it, family can be our lifeline, yet also so complicated and difficult. The same people who we love so much can also be the ones who hurt us the most. Often, we get in stuck in the same routines and expectations of how family members are supposed to interact with each other.

Family roles don't change easily on their own, but how we get along with family members often take the center stage on how we feel about ourselves and our life satisfaction.Therefore, it is important to work on improving communication and relationships through family therapy. I have been trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) for depressed, anxious and suicidal adolescents and young adults.
