Gardens By Ruth
Ruth has 16 years of professional experience in the horticultural realms of organic gardening, garden center management, farming, ecological landscaping, permaculture design, biodynamics, herbalism, and nursery propagation. My name is Ruth Sadie Rose Roudiez, I even have flowers in my name! I grew up on the island of Nantucket, MA and was introduced to gardening by my mother.

She grew lovely little gardens of nasturtium, baby's breath, sweet as candy golden raspberries, and teeny tiny red and yellow and white flavor-explosions-in-your-mouth strawberries. I've been gardening for my entire professional career. My first real job was working for one of the nicest ladies in the world, Caren Oberg of Linnea Gardens.

Holistic design and management of cider orchards and vineyards large and small. Grow your own wine & cider! We partner with NOK Vino to teach you the simplicity of natural fermentation and supply the most adapted plant varietals for our bioregion.
Gardens by Ruth is welcoming those with a passion for plants, soil, and growing your garden knowledge. We can offer part-time employment to work with your schedule and commute. You'd be helping build soil and enhancing the visual and overall health of both recently and well-established gardens. If you have experience, enthusiasm, and reside in a commutable distance to our clients in the Boston area, we would love to hear from you.
Euonymous alatus, commonly known as Burning Bush is a shrub that turns bright red with autumn foliage and has small orange berries that persist after the leaves have fallen. Historically these have been planted near to a house, as a foundation planting and kept trimmed to a certain shape and height.
Gardens by Ruth performs work primarily on lands rightfully belonging to the Massachusett and the Pawtucket. We acknowledge the wrongdoings of the past that have taken this land from the native people.

Our work intersects with bringing right relationship back to people and land, caring for it with respect and reciprocation, and recognizing the practices of native peoples as guideposts to ensure a livable future for human society and our more than human kin.Our region was colonized by Europeans after 12,000 years of native societies living on this land.

Ruth is great! extremely knowledgeable about all plants, weeds, etc. She has transformed my garden which was in extremely poor shape with something that I am now feeling tranquil in. And she is just getting started with planting. She is a delight to work with as well. Suzanne--Winthrop
