At the Law Office of James C. Forslund, we fight for our client's rights in every stage of the legal process in every court and administrative hearing, including post-conviction reinstatement of driving privileges. The firm was established in 1991 by Jim as a solo practitioner. In 2005 he was joined by Gary Pareja, a colleague he had worked with before at the Veteran's Administration.
To preserve your right to drive in Colorado, you must request a hearing within 7 days after your license has been taken from you by an officer or within the time set by Motor Vehicle in a revocation letter. A hearing must be initially scheduled within 60 days. If you had a valid license when stopped, you are qualified for a temporary license to drive until the hearing.
If you have been arrested for driving under the influence of drugs (marijuana) or DUID, your first priority should be to retain the services of a competent, experienced, affordable attorney who has a long track record of successfully defending clients charged with DUID. Went to renew my license, and it was revoked in another state due to a paperwork issue from 2008. Hired Jim, got Gary. In short, Gary had no idea what was going on. I hired Gary to do a job, what I got was nothing but his own confusion and lack of understanding with my case, not to mention the terrible legal advice. I don’t practice law, and even I knew that was bad advice. I mentioned to Gary said terrible advice, and Gary agreed with me he it was bad and chose to proceed with what I suggested. I chose 1 star because it wouldn’t give me the option of choosing 0 stars. I called Jim Forslund for advice on whether or not it would benefit me to use his law firm and represent me in court. I told him that before I decided to pay his asking price of $2,000 for his services, I needed his professional opinion on how confident he was on winning my case. I advised him that if he didn’t feel I could win the case that I would just go it alone and I didn’t want to spend all that money. His exact response to me was “well don’t hire me then” and he hung up in my face!

I retained Jim to help me get a Colorado license. I was revoked in another state and feeling helpless. I gave Jim a call and he gave me the confidence to pursue a drivers license here in Colorado. I have never been in trouble with the law--not even a speeding ticket. When I got a DUI, I was scared and very overwhelmed. Jim and his entire team (Gary and Bob) made me feel very comfortable and they were always there to answer any questions and walk me through everything regarding my case. I was very impressed with Jim Forslund. Going into my case I was very nervous, since I had a lawyer in the past that did nothing for me. But Jim and Gary were very different. I really enjoyed being able to text Jim at all times and he would answer back as soon as he could. I even asked the same questions over and over again and Jim or Gary would explain it with no problem. Jim Forslund was very affordable as well and that helps a lot when you are getting ready to spend a lot of money to the courts.
